Sail date: April 13, 2019

Ship: MSC Seaside

Cabin type: Inside

Traveled as: Family (young children)

Review summary

Overall it was good experience. We like it and kids loved it. If I do it again will do the Yacht Club to see if there is a difference in service Some advice: Do the kids registration while entering the ship then the waiver for the slides and zip line at 18th floor to avoid the crowd later. Activate your card at the small kiosks with a credit card then buy the fun package 7th floor. All can be done on the first day. Then you can start making reservations for all the activities. Before they get sold out.

Embarkation

Our check in time was at 11:00 am. It took 50 minutes from the port entrance to get inside the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was good. Better variety on the 8th floor buffet. It’s was a carbs lovers fantasy. Excellent pizza, pasta, pastries and doughnuts. Overall just few things I didn’t like most were really good. Smaller portions at main dining and larger portions at specialty restaurants. But still you can ask for 2 entrees at main dining. My son did it almost every night. Mediterranean and Ethnic cuisine tastier than American.

Venchi 1878 Chocolate Bar and Venchi 1878 Gelato & Creperie

5 out of 5

Awesome! You’ll need to try something. Delicious simply delicious.

The Biscayne Bay Buffet & Pizzeria

5 out of 5

Very good food, less crowded maybe because it was a limited variety and smaller sitting area than the 8th buffet.

Seashore Restaurant

3 out of 5

Food very good. Service not so good. It always took us 1 to 11/2 hours to complete our dinner.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We did it all. Pool lounges were most of the time very crowded. If you have visited the ports before you can enjoy all the ship has to offer while everyone is on port (Zip line, bowling, 3D Cinema, Water slide) with no lines.

MSC Gym by Technogym

4 out of 5

Good experience only downside was that the hours didn’t match the other kids activities.

Bowling

5 out of 5

This was a really nice activity to do at sea days

Glass-Walled Four Decks Atrium

5 out of 5

Beautiful and it always has some kind of activities, music, performances.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
There are a lots of things to do and to choose from not just the theater. The app and the personal agenda will help you book and experience most of the activities.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
I love all the kids performances at night time at the Atrium area. My kids loved all the games and activities even the older ones! (ages 1,4,6,12 and 17)

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Average calling time before the cruise took 50 minutes. Website information, customer service over the phone, at the cruise or with ship personal always a different story. Specially with the drinks package and the fantástica experience. Some personnel seemed having trouble understanding English. App information wasn’t accurate sometimes. Always rely on the paper daily program.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
I think it’s not easy to navigate. But it is a beautiful ship very contemporary and elegant. Elevators were very packed most of the time. Most of the areas were a little bit warm but bearable. Didn’t see enough personnel cleaning or maintaining the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
Room size was good, not enough storage space, missing few things, it was not cleaned well, tv control not working properly, a/c vent loose, shower door’s plastic film peeling off, shower wasn’t draining properly. For a new ship I expected more. Beware the card activate the lights and power on the cabin if the card is not on the slot there is no power at all.

Ship tip

Print your package information on the contract in order to get all you paid for on board.

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

5 out of 5
Not enough time. Water taxi to downtown for shops and beach. Good for jet ski and water activities.

Nassau, Bahamas

Disembarkation

The concierge handles all the reservations and zip line forms and ANYTHING ELSE u want to do.. Also $ or credit card can be added in yacht club to ur acct and all excursions you can do threw the concierge too so u dont have to wait in the line downstairs .

We do only the yacht club and service is amazing. Your butler will get or do anything u neednor want and the workers all threw the yacht club cater to u lots. The private restaurant is nice. We have done the yacht club on a few different msc ships and enjoyed all of them. The haven on ncl we always do when cruising on ncl and I wld say the food is alot better then yacht clubs and rooms on ncl haven r much bigger. We enjoy the yacht club and highly suggest it to anyone if it fits in ur budget. Yacht club is about 65% less then haven on ncl. But if u r a foodie and looking for amazing food we suggest the haven over yacht club. But we r not super picky people with food so we have been okay with the food on MSC yacht club.
