Review summary

Great ship, fabulous entertainment, they need to correct some problems mentioned above. The food quality could be improved.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation was fine however our luggage was detained for packing an extension cord. This was absurd and started our trip off on the wrong foot. When we arrived in the security area and saw the log, hundreds of bags were detained for extension cords and steamers, items which were not mentioned in the prohibited items list.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We only ate in the yacht club. The food was good, not great. The service was good, but the waiters seemed harried and overworked and short staffed. There seemed to be a surplus of busboys and a dearth of waiters. The yachtclub bartenders were fabulous.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The hot tubs in the yacht club were not hot. They were only warm at best. When we asked them to crank up the temp they said they couldn't. The hot tub in the themal spa was fine, but this was the only one, which was annoying. They had a pool table there which were going to use, however they charged 10 or 15 dollars FOR 15 minutes which was insane, and explains why we never saw anyone using it. Also they charged for the ship zipline, which was free on Royal Caribbean. Another huge complaint: there was NO SHADE at the yachtclub pool! There were 8 cabanas which they had the nerve to gouge you for 100 dollars a day for port days and 150 for sea days, if you wanted some shade. They need to invest in many umbrellas. You are paying a premium to be in the yachtclub and should not have to pay for shade.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainment, specifically the nightly shows in the large auditorium were quite simply the BEST I had ever seen. Outstanding singers, dancers, choreography, set design and costumes. However the lack of a comedian was very disappointing. A comedy improv group that performed every night was horrendously bad. The only other entertainment was heavily geared toward opera. I happen to love opera but the nightly recitals with violin and piano and solo opera singers are not going to fly for American audiences. The condensed opera they performed, Madame Butterfly, was outstanding, however the English supertitles could only be viewed from the right half of the auditorium and we were unfortunately seated to the left. That was irritating. They should have had them projected at the top where everyone could see them.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our personal butler, Celso in the yachtclub and our maid were outstanding.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Beautiful glamorous ship. I didn't care for the auditorium.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin, a deluxe suite in the yachtclub was beautiful with a few glaring omissions. There were not enough outlets. There was absolutely no place to plug in anything in the bathroom. There was one overhead outlet supposedly for "American" plug but our traveling waterpik plug did not fit". We had to use our waterpik in the cabin and spit into a champagne bucket which was absurd. Very Very poor planning .

Ship tip

Stay in the yachtclub.

It's a shame you're forced to eat at the yacht club to get acceptable food on board a ship imagine the fact three or four thousand people were on that ship that did not have yacht club passes and we're forced to eat pizza cold hot dogs and hamburgers for 4 day quote unquote luxury cruise MS seaside please fix your food so I can cruise on you again

You had to pay for the zipline? Others on other forums have said that they waive the fee for YC guests.

Did they confiscate your extension cord?

Glad you had a good cruise. Sounds like a real nice ship. A few problem like all cruises.
