Review summary

Overall, we had a fantastic time largely due to the Yacht Club experience. The Top Sail lounge and restaurant was fantastic as were the private area on Ocean Cay and the dedicated sun deck with pool, hot tub, plenty of loungers, bar with food, etc. Plus the whole VIP feeling! I mean, that is what vacation is all about, am I right? Treat yo' self!

Embarkation

MSC gives you special treatment right from the start with a Yacht Club booking... a dedicated luggage drop off, check in area with champagne and escorted entry onto the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We ate every meal in the Yacht Club restaurant and/or lounge except one breakfast (we slept in!) and when we were on Ocean Cay (where they have a lovey dedicated sit-down restaurant for Yacht Club guests). The food and service were wonderful. For the one breakfast at the normal buffet, it was really crazy there and hard to find a table, but there were lots of good and fresh food choices.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There isn't as much to do on the MSC ships as, say, a comparable Royal Caribbean Oasis class ship. Having said that, the Yacht Club dedicated sun deck is superior and R&R is what we were after on this cruise.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Meh, at best. The performers worked hard, but the shows were rather amateurish. Again, we were recently on Royal Caribbean and their shows were top notch. So, if entertainment is what you're after, then this cruise may not be the one for you.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone we encountered was outstanding. Especially our butler, Divy!

Ship tip

Book a Yacht Club room if you can! From what I could tell, it is a totally different experience from the rest of the ship. And, a good value when you consider the VIP treatment, food and drinks included and private Ocean Cay beach.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

3 out of 5
It's a port. Although we did get to see a rocket launch which was really cool!

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
I find Nassau to be underwhelming. We've been there a few times and originally weren't even going to get off the ship. We decided to do so anyway to do a little junk shopping and stretch our sea legs, but got back on after about 2 hours.

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas

5 out of 5
I like that it is just a beach basically. Perfect Day (RCL) is just too crazy... it is essentially an overpriced water park. Ocean Cay is much quieter, very well kept up and beautiful. Loved relaxing on the Yacht Club beach and having an excellent lunch in the restaurant there. Eat before you get off the ship, though, as there is nothing to eat until noon.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Same VIP treatment getting off the ship as getting on.

I totally agree. The yacht club is the way to go. We booked another cruise while onboard. I don't think we would have if we weren't in the yacht club.
