Don't do it! by JoeM9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

RUDE staff and even ruder passengers; activities for children ridiculously boring and staff delivers punishment to children (sit with hands folded in silence w/lights off for 20 minutes until talking stops); mediocre food (comporable to "Old Country Buffet") and same buffet items EVERY DAY that sit under heating lamps; very little activities; passengers packed like sardines at pool; no food available between meals; no managment to address concerns; very few English-speaking staff; staff annoyed by any questions from passengers; too short of time in Ports of Call; unexpected out-of-pocket expenses;I could go on and on...I would NEVER sail with MSC again.

Great except for the food by MaryA52

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean

The staff were continually cleaning the ship. They gave us a balcony when we paid for an inside cabin. The stateroom was really spacious. Shows were good. Our main complaint was the food. Long lines at the buffet; marginal quality. Items like canned corn, powdered eggs, fatty meats, watery oatmeal. How about tuna and artichoke pizza? Hamburgers were good tho.

Elegant, Enjoyable Cruise by K82991859

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We recently sailed on the MSC Poesia, our first time on a pleasure cruise, and were unsure of what to expect. Although there were some negative reviews posted online, we had made up our minds to stay positive and ended up having the best vacation we've had in years. .. .. .. Having limited balance and mobility, I really wondered how I would manage getting around but my fears were soon allayed. The staff were extremely courteous and discreet yet friendly and very helpful whether it was carrying my plate or assisting me on/off the beautiful ship. Our balcony room was kept immaculate by two very diligent staff and we never lacked for anything. .. .. .. The food in the cafeteria/ pizzeria was mostly the same each day; however there were enough variations and choices of condiments to appease the majority. The formal lunches and dinners, while not always gourmet, did offer a wonderful selection from which you could choose a delicious, custom meal. .. .. .. The entertainment, like the ship itself, was classy, lively, and sophisticated. I especially enjoyed the opera singers and accompanying musicians. The Italian lessons were as much fun as they were educational. .. .. .. Embarkation and debarkation was amazingly well organized, fast, and painless. We did not book through the ship but rather arranged our own tours at the ports and had a great time exploring each island at our own pace. .. .. .. I found the programs which were slipped under the door each night to be easy to follow and highly informative. Our only complaint was with the occasional rude person/family that seemed to think staff should wait hand and foot on them and/or couldn't read the guidelines outlined in the daily program. To those people I would say leave your unreal expectations and obsessive need for self gratification at home and remember you are a guest, not a member of royalty.

Great Time, by WinD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was very nice. We had balcony with 2 children and had enough space. The staff were very friendly contrary to what the other reviews stated. The food was OK, some nights good, some nights not so good, but enough of a variety that you can be satisied whenever you wanted. Also, they had a pizzeria which was pretty much opened most of the time except past 10pm. There were dedicated kids clubs w/supervision and very friendly staff. I'm not so sure why people seem to be obcessed with "Towel" animals on their beds nightly?? how does that improve your cruise quality?? Also, found the entertainment to be AWESOM!!!...A little repetitive, but very nicely done I thought. Sure, it's NO Crystal Cruises, but the cruise was quite comfortable and got us to port safely. There were no discrepancies of the port times and there were ample staff speaking english and the paper information was in english. Also a work about heir spa.....UNBELIEVABLE Spa!!!!!!. I suggest everyone get a Bali Massage and Body Peel. UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Run while you still can! by SethR

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was a simply awful cruise - read the detailed sections below for the nitty gritty, but be aware that one of the biggest surprises is that this ship was hosting for the second year in a row a rock and roll convention with tattooed biker chicks and long-haired rock duds hanging all over it. They interrupted pool time with extremely loud concerts among other things. The cruise line never disclosed this event at any point during the booking process - we planned a relaxing vacation and got a headache - consider it a bait-and-switch.

Excellent value for your value by GabrielD

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean

Having taken aa few cruises it really comes down to value for your money. The ship is pretty new and very well maintained, bars are great, rooms are nice, balconies are a good size, food is good, and entertainment is decent. Considering the cost, and with the assumption that you don't have champagne expectations on a beer budget, the cruise is great!

Great Time by GraceW2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I was overdue for some relaxation and pampering and thats just what I got. Staff was friendly and clean. Service was good. We arrived in Port later than expected and left sooner than we expected. That stunk, our group did not have enough time to view both sides of St. Marteen with time for the beaches. I want to return there again.

NICE SHIP, NICE WEATHER, NICE CRUISE! by SusanM7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

After reading the posted reviews, I was not expecting much. This was a pleasant surprise. The food was great, have no idea what people companied about. It was cool weather but the hot tubs were warm and clean. The ease of ordering morning room service was great. They always came right on time and the coffee was hot, the pastries warm and fresh. Fresh bedding at the end of almost each day was heaven. The ice bucket in the room was kept fresh and full. Other than the language barrier everything you ask for the staff went out of their way to get for you and quickly. The only negative was the staff at the excursion desk had long lines and long waiting time, they were rude.

OK Cruise - Oct 2 2010 - Canada/New Eng. by JeanJim

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

MSC provided a nice cruise, and delivered exactly what they advertised. This is my first cruise on board a larger ship. We normally sail on smaller ships (1400 -1600 guests) so we expected a little more personal service, especially when your booked in their best (suite) stateroom. It didn't happen! Holland America keep those smaller ships in service - - - were coming back!

Not a good cruise by CarolV27265567

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Bermuda

We went to breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the dinning room every day. The waiters need more training. They did not know what a grilled sandwich was. There was no announcements as to when the next activity was starting. We were not informed about things until we asked, ex how to turn the lights on in the cabin. You have to put your key card in a slot. The mens room and ladies room only had pictures on the door which looked the same, and the rooms were hidden on the side in the lounges. No signs to where they were.

A good value for families by AndreaK1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Bermuda

The ship, itself, is lovely, but with so many travelers, it is sometimes difficult to get a seat in the theatre or in the buffet or lounges. Even getting to events 30 minutes in advance did not guarantee you a seat. We spent lots of time just "waiting" for events to happen. Food was good, but it was exceptional for the children (we brought four, ages 3-13). Very little to do for teenagers but a wonderful program for children. Entertainment was outstanding. Service, not always good, mostly because of language difficulties.
