An ok cruise by JudyS4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean

The ship was new, beautifully appointed, lots of marble, Cabins were nice. The ship was very clean. Waiters were very good and friendly. Food was boring, not flavourful and not nicely presented in the dining room. The cafeteria food had the same meals every day. We took a back-to-back and had the identical food and shows the second week. We also had to change cabins the second week.

Medocre Cruise by LolaS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Food selection and quality was poor We have been on other cruise lines with larger rooms, better food and more accomodating staff for about the same price. Buffet staff were rude at times.

A great Vacation by BillF4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We sailed on the MSC Poesia for a week through the eastern Caribbean, our first cruise. We chose to have a room with a balcony and it was well worth it. Our room and the ship were spotless and exceeded our expectations. We were amazed at the organization of the food, activities, shows and getting on and off of the ship at the different ports. There were some confusion with some of the staff that did not speak English but we found that as part of the charm of the voyage. We had 4 stops in a week and it did not leave a lot of time at each port but it left us wanting more and saying lets do it again. I believe this trip was far less expensive than other cruise lines but we had to dig very hard to find anything to complain about. It was a great experience and an awesome value. Oh yes we would go again

More Affordable and European Simplicity by LynnG3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean

The Italian gentlemen who greeted us before checkin on the street in FL set the tone for fun. MSC takes a hit on food because Americans are used to quantity vs quality. The food was abundant, fresh, simply prepared (wonderfully), great pasta, and soups. One could eat the 7 course meals with a good bottle of wine (nicely priced) and feel great. Our family of 4 had our own table. If you elect the buffets, excellent roasted meats, great European specialties plus the standard American fare. The ship was immaculate. The pools are larger than other cruise ships. Shows were excellent. The ship's composition was probably 60% Italians, Germans, Scandinavians, and French and 40% Americans. My 9 and 10 year olds loved that. The European travelers around us enjoyed their families thru late dinners and shows. The tone was more laid back, less overdrinking by 10 a.m. as I've seen on other cruises. Employees so interesting from S. Africa to Romania. Language differences made it a good experience for my kids. Excursions were fantastic from a bamboo raft thru Jamaica's rainforest to snorkeling with stingrays at Blackbeard's Cay in Nassau. Thethering from the ship for 1 excursion was a long line/wait. Big problem - no tv coverage during first of two NFL playoff games. Americans were scrambling for news. Baseball players on cruise were fantastic. Thank you Ken Griffey Sr. for genuine time you gave to my kids. Ice cream machine needs to be on 24 hrs. Wine bar has excellently priced Italian wines and hearty appetizers with great piano player and staff. Thank you for not bombarding us with photos. That was done so tastefully. Also easy to change gratuity policy, took 5 min with no questions/hassle. We received excellent service but wanted to make sure gratuity was more reasonable and went to the right people (our waiter, our cabin attendants, etc.). Best part of the cruise - kids sail free! It made traveling with excursions completely affordable for a middle class family.

A bland and boring cruise by KatieS1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Although this ship was very beautiful, the activities on board were borderline childish. The entire crew spoke several different languages, but as English not being their primary language, it was extremely difficult to communicate. I understand that this is a european cruise line, but leaving from a port in the United States left me frustrated that speaking English was a difficult form of communication. With that being said-all members of the crew were extremely patient and did the best that they could to help. The food was not great, most meals seemed repetitious as were the shows, and activities on-board.

An average cruise by TeriH

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The price of the cruise was good, until you get on. Lots of hidden charges. The shows was bascially the same, but different themes. The food, was plain, no seasons, or spices. If you have kids, it be a good cruise. Lots of activities, and child care. The room was great, balcony. No room service but for breakfast. Than only thing you get is coffee and bread.

Fabulous Cruise by DonnaS13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Myself and 3 friends took this trip with much trepadation due to the poor reviews. Once on board we were pleasantly surprised, starting with our escort to our cabins. Ship is immaculate. Loved the Activities staff. Richard is a treasure along with Arturo, Giovanni & Felice. They try to involve everyone regardless of age.Wait staff in dining room great esp. Luigi.Production shows (different ones every night) out do any I've seen in 17 sailings-just fabulous. It was a great trip and hated to leave.

STOP before you BOOK! by MatthewD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The rep at neglected to inform me that the ship I was booking was themed. "Shiprocked" was the theme. Over 1200 passengers were there to listen to heavy metal and rock music. MSC made this information aware to all 3rd party booking sites (i.e ) I told the rep it was my honeymoon. Instead of recommending another Cruise they just hurried to get me booked on this one. I will NEVER book through ever ever again. I don't care how cheap the price may be. I'd rather pay more than have information withheld from me.

WORST CRUISE by StacyV

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship was beautiful and that was about it. The service was bad, the pools closed at 7pm , the food was eatable and the shows were painful. To make it worse we were NEVER informed that there would be a rock concert aboard our cruise Ship Rocked. If we would have been told we would have chosen a different week to go, but instead we found out about the concert cruise once we boarded. There were families with their small children that had not signed up for this. The food was horrible, my boyfriend ended up getting sick and we had to spend the night in our cabin ( not that it mattered because there wasnt anything for us to do on board). Most of the workers onboard were rude and offered no source of help when asked a question. We wanted to get a waterproof camera for one of our excursions and each person sent us to the next person and after nearly an hour and pretty much every store on aboard we were told that they didnt have any on board but another couple said they found a camera at one of the shops but they had the pretty much pull teeth to get it. I WILL NEVER GO ON ANOTHER MSC CRUISE AGAIN! I DO NOT RECOMMENT IT TO ANYONE. I wish we could get some of our money back!

This cruise line should be banned by EllenV

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Transatlantic

In my cruise experience this is the poorest cruise operation I have ever experienced. The food was not good, not well presented; the service (other than room stewards, wait staff) was non-existant. The waiters in the formal dining rooms lacked any training that we detected, although they were friendly and tried very hard to please. The excursions were not the best. Overall, this cruise line gets a -10 from me.

You Get What you Pay For by KateA14379063

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Poesia / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

The ship was new and well maintained. The rooms were small, but adequate. It took us awhile to learn the best ways to get around the ship, but once we did it was easier. The food was average; very European. The majority of the staff seemed to not really know what was going on most of the time. They seemed poorly trained - although well intentioned. The staff at the Reception desk were not helpful and were even rude. Onboarding and offboarding was often choatic and confusing - with little communication coming from the staff. Overall, we would not cruise with MSC again. Our previous experience with Royal Caribbean was much better in comparison. We got a great deal on this cruise, but after realizing that you pay for everything on the ship in euros, it didn't turn out ot be such a great deal afterall. Plus the ship wasn't as inclulsive as we thought it would be. There are many add-ons you find out about after you get on the ship.
