Sail Date: February 01, 2010 Ship: MSC Poesia Cabin Type: Balcony Traveled As: Couple Reviewed: 8 years ago
We went on board with no expectations due to a bad previous cruise ( Carnival ) so were going only for the country music and ports of call. We had read so many negative reviews that we just were not expecting any positives at all. however it is a great ship, very clean and well run. Friendly, outgoing and entertaining crew. Lounge singers other than the activities crew left a bit to be desired however I do not believe they were professionals so you get what you pay for. I would have thought that if it is a theme cruise more entertainemnt would be geared to the theme. SInce it was during the Olympics and this is a european ship I would have thought that they might have had some time or a room devoted to it. Sports bar might be a suggestion however given the status of television on board it might be a challenge.
Food and Dining

The food while not as bad as I had been led to believe by other reviews was ok. I would have preferred items with a bit more flavour and seasoning however I can understand that when feeding so many one would have to err on underseasoning. Eating times were good, again not what I had expected from previously read comments but there was always something available. Deserts were very good and the Gala 2nd night midnight buffet was wonderful! This was what I had been expecting and finally it was provided! In this area they are artists!

Bellamy concert was great and that is what we went for as this was supposed to be a country music theme cruise, but other than the singers and musicians in the lounge beside reception the lounge entertainers were below average. HOWEVER
the activities people made up for this with all their programs. The Zebra lounge was the best entertaiment on the ship, The activities the crew put on ie trivia contests etc even the pool area they really got people up and having fun! This was a big positive and they are a real asset to the ship, it cannot be easy to get people participating and involved when there is so many different languages and nationaliies on board and yet they did it every day and evening, the activities crew are really to be commended.

Absolutely, every person I encountered was friendly and helpful, I can honestly say they were excellent! They all were trying very hard to assist in any way.

They are constantly cleaning this ship, it is absolutely spotless and in excellent condition! I overheard one person complaining that they were cleaning during the daytime and thought her very silly, they cleaned night and day and had to just to keep up to the hoards of messy people aboard. While a little confusing
at first one soon can get around with ease.

Other than being a little smaller compared to other cruise we have taken the room and balcony was fine. We were on the 14th deck and found everything very accessable.
Pros: Ship is new and spotless, ALL the staff were very friendly and helpful
Cons: Entertainment was average at best, WORST internet access ever,
