Review summary

Whilst we have previously cruised with MSC and loved them all, this had it been our first, would have made us think twice about cruising with them again.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
with a few days notice a change of embarkation location was given, no problem to us as ample time to make arrangements. The problems arose at the new location, I personally do not think it was suitable for the number of passengers embarking,

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The main dining room service was slow, nothing like previous expieriences, much smaller choice on menu in evening and no organisation at brekfast. The kippers at brekfast were poor quality and unedible due to their strong flavour. The buffet restaurant was good as it always is with excellent choice and variety of food.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
we did not use any of the on board facilities but my daughter did use the gym which she said was a bit dated and disliked other passengers going into the gym and just watching what people were doing.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Thomas our cabin attendant was precise in his actions. We had an issue with things being taken out of our safe. All was resolved but not without causing some anxiety to ourselves. All of which could have been avoided by following a simple procedure, not Thomas's fault but housekeepings.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
As with all other MSC ships we have used the layout was as expected.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Balcony cabin with sofa bed for additional passengers, whilst the cabin is adequate for 2 I feel any additional passengers it is cramped.

Ports of call

Southampton (London), England

3 out of 5
this was a returning port and not a port visit, therefore we disembarked.

Hamburg, Germany

5 out of 5
Loved Hamburg as had visited previously and wanted to return, this was also our embarkation port.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
We self disembarked along with a lot of other people, my only critism of this procedure was that they had day visitors disembarking in the same queues as those disembarking the ship.
