Awesome MSC Divina Vacation by Rdzshelly

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We were a group of 16 and we're a little hectic with a few of the bad reviews buy we are glad we chose this cruise. Embarkation was very smooth.  Crew were friendly very attentive ship was super clean.  We paid for a ocean view and we're all upgraded to a Balcony this was a Big Plus.  Food was amazing!!!! In the main Dining room we each order a few options since we read they were smaller portion wish gave us the ability to try a few different things.  I spoke with a lady that was complaining how bad the food was I asked what she had for dinner and say fettuccine I look at her and say what else she say that was it.  Well you can't judge a ship food for just one pasta that I order my self and my father and we loved it you have to eat a few different things not just one dish. Desserts were to die forHappy Cafe Italia was the best I bought a Voucher  for  $28 prior to Board and I didn't pay any gratuity to it, wish gave me 15 cofee wish they normally cost around 4.50 a piece.  Never had a problem finding were to sit on the buffet yes they were crowded but this was never an issue.  I always wake up around 9 and never had any problems finding a chair by the pool and our cruise was fully booked.  Overall I give MSC Divina a 5 star rating because just for the shows the trip was worth it don't miss the pirate show was my favorite but I did missed the witches show and was one of the best I heard.  People enjoy your cruise and get the best out it instead of complaints for little things like I didn't have enough TV channels or I pay too much for parking wish have nothing to do with the cruise.  Have fun in your cruise MSC Divina it's a beautiful ship and we'll worth it

First Time Cruisers by travelwithtes

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This cruise experience was our very first cruise. Embarkation went smooth and we had to rely on what the workers told us regarding muster drill LOL. We had a balcony cabin and it was a great experience. I didn't know what to expect and I think we went over board of pre-purchasing lost of items before we cruised from bottles of wine, coffee drink packages, specialty dining to photo packages. It was too much and being this our first, I realized we didn't get to enjoy the food at the main dining because we bought so much specialty dining. Their food at the main dining was amazing as well. Macarons on board were legit and yummy! Workers were friendly and very accommodating. We were really treated really nice! Food was great! Wine delicious! We enjoyed hanging out out on their pool deck area to swim or just get some tan. Night life was enjoyable, upbeat and never a dull night! Ports visited were all nice and enjoyed every bit of it.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

best part of the cruise was leaving it. the ship's crew has no idea about anything. big language barriers. guest relations couldnt be any worst. times of ports of call where dangerous to guests. shows were good. enbarkation is so unorganized. bags were all mixed on a carousel, so try to find your bags. absolutely the worst run cruiseline i have ever scene. i would never cruise it again.

Nice old memory by Mary0334

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina

It was our first cruise. Much quieter than the second in the Mediterranean (see my review of World Europa 2023). I liked the trip to Jamaica and Mexico. The ship, even before its renovation, was beautiful and modern.

I was very disappointed in... by lucycurtis33

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Divina

I was very disappointed in this ship. It was big and beautiful but the service and crew were ghastly. The toilets in the room didn’t work properly so you had to put your used toilet paper in a plastic bag and tie the bag up and it was disposed of when you’re room was cleaned each day. I was sitting by the pool one near the bar and a passenger came up and asked where she could find the basketball court. The bar tender had no idea and she barely spoke English. I ended up telling the passenger where to find it. The lack of knowledge about the ship was consistent through most of the crew. While at dinner one night my husband and I saw a bus lady drop a bowl of spaghetti off her tray and it hit an elderly gentleman’s shoulder and the bowl broke. The spaghetti went all over his suit coat and she never looked back or even apologized. I believe the only reason they did anything about it was because those that saw it happen started making comments. They brushed the gentleman’s coat off and moved the to a new table. No apologies were ever made or inquiries as to the state of the man’s emotions or asking if he sustained any injury. When I said something to our waitress she looked at me like I had crawled out of cheese and said “It was an accident. We moved him to a clean table.” I will never cruise aboard this ship again.

Most international cruise yet by Sieger

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: South America

I am a Russian-American woman in my fifties married to an American man. We have two children--ages 18 and 21. We have been on three cruises in the past 3 years two of which have been on Carnival. We were on the Carnival Breeze in the Mediterranean in 2012 and the Carnival Legend in Northern Europe in 2013. This year, we sailed on the MSC Divina in Brazil and the Carrib. While we loved the first two cruises, MSC was a life changing experience mostly due to the people.

Comparison of the ships:

Food:

The only thing the Breeze has over the Divina was the food. Any person who travels on the Breeze and Divina can tell you that the food on the Divina was so obviously mediocre compared to the food Carnival offers. The Divina lacks the variety and quality Carnival offers. Also, at any given time on the Breeze you could find 24 hour pizza, hot chocolate, tea, coffee, multiple juice drinks, etc. On the Divina, it felt like half the time you passed the beverage station the only available drink was tea, terrible coffee, or water. When the juices were actually available, they were TERRIBLE. Additionally, the staff filled the juice dispensers with water whenever it wasn't filled with juice so if you went to get cup of juice, you'd get this disgusting juice flavored water. Dinner in the restaurant was always disappointing. The breakfast was good. Overall, the food is completely mediocre. My kids didn't seem to care. Also, I'd like to note that we were on a 19 day cruise and none of us gained any weight on this cruise unlike on our other cruises. So I guess bad food was a good thing!

Entertainment: I enjoyed the entertainment on the Divina far more than on any other ship. I am from Russia and lived in Italy for many years. I believe Carnival appeals more to Americans while MSC appeals more to Italians, Russians, and other Europeans. I hardly ever went to shows on Carnival but frequently attended shows on the Divina. Also, the Divina offered more latin dancing e.g. salsa, tango, etc. which I loved.

Embarkation/Disembarkation: Embarkation was easy on all three ships. Disembarkation, however was a NIGHTMARE on the Divina. There was a supposed "gas leak" in the port so the entire port was evacuated. It took us about 6 grueling hours to get off. Many people missed their flights. It was a disaster. I don't know if this is MSC's fault or the ports. Either way, MSC did not handle it well.

Ships themselves:  Divina was the largest ship and by far the most beautiful. Next would be the Breeze and then the Legend.

Passengers: We saw the same kinds of people on the Breeze and Legend. The overwhelming majority of passengers were either British or American. Some other Europeans. The Divina was by far the most international. Because the ship departed from Rio, nearly 60% of passengers were Brazilian. The rest were a huge mix of Germans, Brits, Americans, French, Italians, Dutch etc. My two kids said that they felt like they were living in Brazil for a month. My daughter described it as the best experience of her life. They made friends from all over the world and have already made plans to visit them. If they had to guess, my kids would say that 40% of the "kids" spoke English. Most of the Brazilians did not but there were so many passengers on the ship that they were able to find a huge group of friends without a problem. (The ship had over 4000 passengers.)

What my kids have to say:

My kids went to the 18+ club which was EXTREMELY lenient in terms of who got in. They did not ID anyone who entered the club unlike on the Carnival Ships. My 21 year old son claims that it was harder to get into the Carnival Club than in a NYC nightclub. On any given day there ware at least 30 people in the club. On the nights before sea days there would be about 100 people in the club. Anyone aged 14 and above went to the 18+ nightclub. Even the director of the ages 15-17 club was at the 18+ club. There were also middle aged people dancing. On Carnival, my daughter was apart of the 15-17 club which we enjoyed however only to make friends and talk. She said few people actually danced. MY son described the 18+ club on the Carnival Ships as a joke. He said hardly anyone ever showed.

My kids described this cruise as being the "wildest." Overall, we all loved this cruise.
