Review summary

Nice to getaway. Glad it was only 4 days. Truly ready to leave this cruise. Everyone was RUDE…. Ship was beautiful.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Check in time was 11:00. Check in went smoothly but waited an hour to board ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Main dining room AWFUL!!! Service was awful because we did not speak Spanish so we were treated differently. Steak was extremely dry, asked for medium. Hard to get something to drink and then my husband asked for Bud Light and got Miller Lite. Positive was brick oven pizza. Buffet was average nothing spectacular, same food every day!!!

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Bingo on last day. Only one game.. other cruise lines we have cruised on, offer multiple games. Suggestion: need servers to take orders for drinks before show…. Trivia last day was ok fun.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Theater shows were entertaining. Great costumes, great acrobatics. Singers were ok, music was good. Suggestion: need servers to come around n offer drinks before show.

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
Had waitress Carolina in main dining room. She was rude at best. Other couple at our table spoke Spanish and she made sure they got everything they needed. My husband and I had to ask for tea, beer which was not brand we asked for. Only ate there one night and that was too much. Most bars you could not get a drink in a timely fashion. My husband was overlooked multiple times as the bartenders focused on the women or the rude people who butted in and did not wait their turn. Sports Bar bartenders finally gave us some good service. Black n White on last day finally gave us some good service.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Layout of ship was very choppy and hard to follow. Staff was always vacuuming and cleaning. Dining room floors always had food under tables.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
I have sleep apnea and there was no plug on either bedside table to plug it in. Luckily my cord for my CPap stretched to desk area so I was able to use. Walls between rooms are very thin and our neighbors were very LOUD! Luckily I brought a sound machine so we could sleep.

Ship tip

I will not be recommending anyone to travel with MSC nor will I be traveling with this line in the future.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

Crazy busy, horns honking. Chaos!!!

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas

Absolutely beautiful. Water was gorgeous, beaches were nice but very rocky. Must wear water shoes. Service at bars just like ship long lines and hard to get service.

Disembarkation

Actually smooth getting off ship n going thru customs. Announcement stated that even though you had credit card on file you must go to kiosk to settle. No kiosk was working so that created a long line at customer service. After we waited for 30-45 minutes we finally got to counter only to learn that we did not have to settle as our credit card was on file. Went to pick up photo we ordered last day thru kiosk. We ordered and picked up our prints, but this one was not ready as it was taken earlier in day at Ocean Cay. Guess what they could not find our photo. 3 people looked and said it was either given to someone else in error or not printed so I had to get a digital copy. I was refunded for the error so that was appreciated.

I agree! We cruised in January and too many negatives to give it another chance. Back to Celebrity, Carnival and Royal. We are trying Princess January 2024. I hope it’s better.

People either love or hate MSC. I have been on 4 MSC Cruises for a total of 33 days over the last year, including the Meraviglia and Divina, and loved it. I thought the food, entertainment and service was equivalent to or better than Carnival & Royal Caribbean. The 7 day and longer itineraries are a better experience than the 3-4 day cruises, which tend to be more of a “booze cruise” now. MSC does have a diverse passenger mix, but I found that interesting rather than a problem.
