This was by far the worst cruise we have taken. Positive points: Beautiful and elegant ship, balcony cabin larger than other lines, visited some unusual ports. Negatives: Bed linen dirty and smelly even after requesting a change, very small TV with few channels and remote not working, no bar soap, inconvenient painting and washing of balcony (3 times). Food portions in restaurant were tiny, only one buffet for nearly 4000 passengers, offering almost same menu every day. Small area creates confusion and stress to get food, very difficult to find a place to sit down, not clean enough. Pool area downright dirty, with insufficient tables and chairs, staff not helpful, sometimes rude, same at some bars. Used to seeing crew cleaning and polishing all the time in other lines, but not here and officers appear to be unconcerned. Reduced number of elevators, several out of order the entire week. No advance information on decks for disembarking at ports visited, even crew gave wrong instructions. Returning is total chaos at terminals, buses or tenders, with no lines or organization. Took MSC tour to Montecarlo and was disorganized and rushed, repeatedly changing scheduled times and stops, leaving just minutes for free time. At La Spezia (Cinque Terre) there was a rail strike that day, and trains are crucial in this visit; the ship surely had to know about it but failed to let passengers know. In general it was very unfortunate that MSC did not deliver as we had expected, partly our fault for ignoring so many negative reviews seen before. They have a long way to go before they can compare favorably to the main cruise lines - Good luck!

Tiny portions in main restaurant. Buffet too small, disorganized, offers same food every day. Very difficult to find an empty table, not clean enough.

3 out of 5
Frequent pool activities, not much else interesting.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Lack of professional level entertainers, and very little entertainment at all.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Mohammed, our cabin steward and Carolina from Passenger Services were great.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Huge ship, very beautiful and elegant.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The cabin size was larger than others we have been in before. TV was tiny, remote did not work right and short usable channel lineup. Bed linens were filthy and smelly. No bar soap provided, only inconvenient lotion dispenser.

Ship Tip

Stay away from this ship. We are sorry we did not follow previous passengers advice to look elsewhere.

Took private tour to Amalfi coast, which is amazing, with beautiful views, villages.

On our own, as we had visited there for several days in 2013, Hop On/Off buses terrible this time, very few, no AC.

Took MSC tour that was very disorganized, changing stops and times constantly, leaving very little free time.
