This cruise exceeded my expectation. All the staff were friendly and always there to help in whatever you needed. It was the last cruise with that ship and a lot of the staff and vacationers got emotional at the end.
Chose this cruise as it was close to Orlando. Stayed in in Orlando prior to cruise and visited Sea World and Universal Studios and drove 1 hour to Port Canaveral to jump on 3 day cruise to Bahamas. The service in was exceptional and all had a blast.
The rooms for 3 people are to small other then that it was ok . The weather was to cold and we couldn't do much but we still enjoy .the get way . We hope that next time will be better so we can go to coco cay island and enjoy the beach We missed that in this cruise due to the whether .
ThisI would Recommend ThisCruise ToAnyOne! Top Notch Custome Service And Delicious Food! I WillDefinitely Sail With This CruiseLine InThe Future. We Enjoyed Every Part IfThis Cruise. Thank You ForSuch A Wonderful Experience!
This was our first cruise so we dont really have anything to compare it to, but we are sold with Royal Caribbean! Im pretty sure we will only choose Royal Caribbean from now on because the staff of the Monarch of the Seas set the expectations so high! The staff aboard the ship was amazing! My husband was very leery about cruises and therefore I was hoping the experience would impress him since we had only booked a short cruise! I myself knew I would love it and very much wanted to book a longer cruise next time! well my husband and myself were absolutely blown away with the hospitality and friendliness of the staff!! The ship was nice but nothing about the ship impressed us more than the wonderful staff that made our vacation the most memorable one ever!! We booked our next cruise the day we got home! We are taking all 4 of our children on a cruise this fall! although it will not be on the Monarch, because we were on one of its final cruises, it will be with Royal Caribbean! We are so grateful for the wonderful first experience we had and we look forward to many more!!!
It was the most amazing Vacation that we ever had. I'm a first time Cruiser!!!, and let's just say, we're definitely going on another cruise, as long as I have money. The only downside was that we didn't receive our $25 cash back and onboard spending. lied to us. That's the only problem we had, but afterwards the food, the activities, the room service.... They were great!!!!! Although the room was kinda small, but I loved looking out to the ocean ( We had the oceanview room)
I really enjoyed my cruise as usualy. A little disappointed that the bar service was not what it use to be. Had to wait and get up from my comfortable chair and go get most of my drinks myself which was a disappinting. Over all it was a wonderful time.
I have cruised to Bermuda on NCL and Holland America prior to this cruise and was VERY pleased with both. I must say the Itinerary for the 4 day cruise to Coco Cay & Bahamas was great, but food & entertainment was VERY poor. If this was my first cruise, I probably would not cruise again. Since we have cruised on other lines I know cruising is the way to go with the right cruise line. We traveled with 8 of us and the price per person for the cruise was great, as well as the rooms and housekeeping staff, but cruise personnel outside housekeeping was VERY poor and not helpful. Poor Food , Entertainment & Staff (not including housekeeping).
We had a great time on the ship. The room was a little small but we didn't stay in it very long. I was disappointed that the ice cream was not available 24 hours. The water at COCO CAY was too cold for snorkeling. We will not purchase tickets next time until we check the water. We paid 64.00 and never got to enjoy the underwater sights.
We were very excited and had no expectations but when we got to our stateroom (5501) we noticed a smell that was likened to gear oil/diesel in the room which gave my wife a headache after about 10 minutes in the room that wouldn't go away. We informed guest services and they said that they would look into it. (All someone did was to air out the hallway for a couple of hours and say everything was fine) We returned to the room after they said it was okay and after about an hour my wife's headache got worse from the fumes. They found a room for us the following day that someone else had asked to be moved out of (stateroom 2120) and my wife's headache started to go away around 1500 hours, Day 2 of the trip while we on Cococay Island. We went to our new stateroom around 0100 to sleep and at 0300 a purge pump went off that was so loud it sounded like having an engine running next to the bed. At around 0400 I decided to call guest services and have them find out the cause of the noise and when security came to the room they immediately called guest services to tell them that the noise was so annoying that no one could sleep in the room under those conditions. The noise persisted until 0615 and there weren't any viable staterooms available until after 0900. So on Day 3, when we were suppose to be touring Nassau, we moved to a new stateroom (9582) and didn't start touring until after 1200 hours. At around 1400 hours it started raining like hell on Nassau so we started heading back to the ship and during the process my wife slipped and fell hurting her arm and buttocks so Day 3 was a bust but we tried to recover from it by going to one of the onboard shows at 1930 but when we returned to the stateroom there was a god awful smell of cleaner and deodorizer in the stateroom, the stateroom door was left open, and that prohibited me from being able to sleep in the room because it set off my asthma so I left the room door open and opened one of the outside ship doors to air the room out so I could go to sleep but after 2 hours of airing it out I decided to just go to the onboard bars to drink myself to sleep but when I returned to the room at 0230 the odor was still lingering in the room. I could enter the room but could not sleep because the smell of cleaning solution still was in the room so at 0750 I went down to guest services to talk to the manager and at that point I just wanted off the ship. We spent more time moving from room to room and talking to guest services that we couldn't really enjoy ourselves. There weren't anymore staterooms to move us to but if they had one empty we would have had four staterooms in 4 days. When you are onboard ship you are at the mercy of what rooms are left empty and they were vacated for a reason so you go from bad to worse. Tips: If you don't receive a package in the mail that has reference to onboard credit or coupons you won't be getting anything during your cruise so don't bother asking for them. You will be paying gratuities per day, per person no matter if your trip was spoiled like ours. The excursions that they offer won't meet your expectations based on the price of the excursion, always expect to get less for your money and your trip will go smoother. If you like to drink, always get there drinking packages but be aware that you have to pay around $220 per person over 18 years of age that is in your stateroom. If you can get an all inclusive trip, with prepaid excursions, your trip will be great because you know upfront what your costs are going to be. Do not get any rooms on Deck 2 especially not room 2120. Try to stay away from rooms on deck 5 around the 5501 area because there is a crew door that can leak fumes into your stateroom. If you have any medical condition, lets say asthma, inform the guests relations and porter not to use harsh chemicals in your room that would exacerbate your condition. We won't be going on any more cruise ships because they are a waste of money for someone who can entertain themselves and plan out their own activities. This trip was the worst that we ever had and we have had some real bad ones like spending 10 days in a Military terminal waiting for space A flights that never appeared.
This boat is very old and is really rocky as far as cruise ships go. Bingo broke twice while on the boat and some of the casino slot machines weren't working. Rental on Coco Key weren't able to be rented due to the wind and all activities on the island was shut down. The gym was way tiny and over packed so I did not get to work out while on my cruise. Over all the service people on the boat were great and very helpful when needed. However security deactivated my card due to my room mate and I wasn't able to buy or purchase any thing on the boat, not even ice cream. When I went to guest services, they were no help. However once I went to buy my picture from the photo people on the boat, they were kind enough to call guest services and get my sail Pass reactivated so I could purchase the pictures and from then on I had no problem with my card. Over all I feel that this wasn't that great of a cruise for my first time and the amount of money I spent to take it. I did love the buffet that offered a wide variety of foods. I wish my experience on this boat would have been different however it wasn't as expected
If you are not a spring breaker stay away. When I booked I did not realize this ship was going to be filled with noisy springbreakers. As a consecuence I felt I was in a place which was out of control, I could not sleep at night because of loud noises in my stateroom corridor.
On this cruise my girlfriend and i finally got to go to cococay a spectacular island that royal caribbean really does make great for all ages! The food, specifically dinner, was outstanding, great service, and we loved the formal eating.
This was our first cruise so we have nothing to compare to but it is our opinion that it was an excellent experience and we would most definitely recommend this cruise to others. We enjoyed our stateroom, all of the shows and the food was wonderful. There were 10 in our party mostly all family members and for many of them it was also their first cruise so it was quiet an adventure for all of us. We loved stopping at Cococay for the day and also enjoyed the straw market in the Bahamas. The entire trip was most relaxing and we even made it without using our phones or our computers which put us all in a relaxing mood... We would like to go for another cruise in the future and will most definitely recommend your company to our friends.

The interior of the ship was very clean but the bathroom showed the age. We were disappointed about not getting to visit Coco Cay. The price that was quoted for parking was not what was charged at the port.
We took the trip with 3 teenagers. Not much for them to do but the experience was great. Staff was excellent. There was a teen room but not anyone working it to get the boys interested in hanging out there....would say this is where the work was needed.
We spend a 4 night cruise on the Monarch of the Seas, to be retired at the end of March 2013. From the moment we stepped on the ship to the time we departed, the service by the crew was 5-star, as was the food and the destination (Nassau). The accommodations were more than I had expected after reading several "for first time cruise" articles. We would travel on another cruise without hesitation, and would recommend Royal Caribbean to friends and family.
