Worst cruise ever

Sail Date: October 22, 2012

Reviewed: 4 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Monarch is tired and grubby in the cabin and in our immediate corridors. Policy of disallowing passengers to bring wine and soft beverages on board is disingenuous. Staff told us reason for no wine is to prevent over imbibing in cabin - for water and soft drinks is \"health\" code. However, dining room waiter on 1st night offered us expensive multiple bottle wine packages, delivered to our cabin if desired. Reason for no water became obvious - medium size bottle in cabin $4.25 \"plus\" 18% service charge. Absolute hypocricy by Royal Caribbean senior management.

Pros: Staff\, except security & ad-hoc dining

Cons: Grubby and tired ship. Outrageous beverage prices and gratuities

Recommends Monarch of the Seas (RETIRED)? No.

Ship Quality
Aside from cabin and corridors\, reasonably clean.
Food and Dining
Food service quality generally good\, although nothing special.
Cabin / Stateroom
Horrible! Room tired and grubby. Carpet and chair stained. Pillows and mattress smelled of old body odor. Bathroom smelled of mold and decomposing defecation\, although it appeared clean. TV tired - poor picture quality\, CC1 when working\, in Spanish. No facility on remote to change language.
Service and Staff
Assigned staff ( dining room and staterrom attendant excellent. Non assigned dining room staff frequently sullen and arrogant. Windjammer dining staff excellent throughout cruise.
Entertainment
Excellent comedy routines. Singers and dancers very good\, although choreography not up to par.
