RCCL: Bad & getting worse...

Where to begin...1st off, I'm a "Frequent Floater" (6X+ cruises) , 3 of them w/RCCL's Monarch of the Seas, this was my gf's 1st cruise. & yes, we knew the risk of booking a cruise during hurricane season, I dont fault anyone for the terrible weather conditions (Thanks Isaac!), the employees had their hands full trying to appease very disappointed passengers during almost constant rain, 6' swells, closed Ports, & malfunctioning ship equipment for 3 days, the dinners, shows, & employees were exceptional, but thats where the accolades end. The ship's condition continues to decline & its obvious that its been sold (last cruise will be April, 13') & it looks like RCCL just intends to do the minimum ahead of this passing it on to it's new owner as the ship smells, the PA system is shoddy respective of where you are on the ship, I found insects in my food, surfaces were sticky or slimy, we were freezing in some areas, & sweating in others, everything feels worn out. Prices have gotten ridiculous, duty-free is a joke, - who cares that something's tax free or 10% off when its priced 80% higher than it should be (Haitian made hoodies = $60, $44 for unlimited soda, $10 tube of toothpaste, $9 for watered down drinks, upcharges on almost everything, etc)? But the worst of all was RCCL's policies & procedures which tie the hands of their employees leaving them powerless in the face of irate passengers. This means that RCCLs execs are insulated from passengers ire while their employees have to bear the brunt of passengers who've spent alot of time & money hoping for a memorable vacation & RCCLs not even giving anyone a break on any prices, a decent "We're Sorry." parting gift, NOTHING! Keep in mind we could NEVER get off the ship, all excursions were cancelled, the fitness classes were all cancelled, the weather was so bad that most of the time were not even allowed to go outside, but RCCL offered NO credits, no percentages off, no credit t

Pros: The employees tried their hardest to make a bad cruise as good as possible & are commendable.

Cons: RCCL's greed & lack of compassion & customer service & the disembarkation procedures

Recommends Monarch of the Seas (RETIRED)? No.

Ship Quality
Worn out, smells throughout, moldy in some areas, smoky in the clubs, carpets are stained, tile floors are slimy or sticky. The entire ship feels like its just being minimally maintained (its been sold) ahead of its transfer to its new owner.
Food and Dining
The evening dinners were exceptional, times were good, the staff bent over backwards to us, & quality of the food was phenomenal (A+), etc , too bad the buffet style breakfasts & lunches were anything but. While the presentation & selection was decent, the quality was subpar, juices & teas all tasted cheap (watered-down, warm, worn out cups), flavorless, low quality.
Cabin / Stateroom
Nothing fancy, we paid for a "2 Star" room & its was a "2 Star" room, comfortable, basic, etc. the noise level outside the room was loud, but thats to be expected when you dont get a high cost stateroom.
Service and Staff
RCCL doesnt treat their employees very well. They work them to death & put them up to face the brunt of disappointed & often irate passengers upset over RCCL's policies & procedures, and I give them all the thanks in the world for having the patience & incredible tolerance to still have great attitudes despite thier hands being tied by RCCL's policy.
Shows were incredible, but the prizes given (especially after such a horrible cruise) for winning were pathetic; (we won 1st place in a grueling & humiliating scavenger hunt in which my gf fell & hurt herself & 3 people got their property damaged, broken & stained & for a team of 15 we got 3 cheap RCCL medals, & 4 ID holders!) , not so much as free drinks, some cruise cash, or anything else.
