Disappointing cruise for the money spent

Sail Date: June 18, 2012

Reviewed: 4 years ago

Traveled As: Large Group

Room Type: Inside

The ship is old and is missing many amenities like having only one pool and one hot tub with too many people in one area causing unsanitary conditions and safety issues. It was odd having to walk through a bar to get to the theatre.

Pros: Dining room food

Cons: The smell of urine and feces in the hallways of our deck

Recommends Monarch of the Seas (RETIRED)? No.

Cabin / Stateroom
There was no vanity chair, no safe or fridge and the shower curtain was useless. At least our room was nice and cool. Our other family members' rooms were very hot.
Service and Staff
Our stateroom attendant was the best. She went above and beyond in her duties, Melanie was fabulous. Also, our waiter and assistant waiter were very good as well. However, most of the wait staff around the ship were only interested in us if we were purchasing drinks. When my son asked for a water the waiter told him he had to get it himself.
Ship Quality
Everything seemed to be working correctly except for the plumbing on deck 3, which was smelly and being repaired the entire trip.
Food and Dining
The food in the dining room was very good, the selection was pretty good but we were disappointed that you did not have any lobster without having to purchase it, very unsatisfactory. The Windjammer food was not very appetizing, especially the eggs, they were terrible...powdered. All the other "free" drinks, which were only powdered lemonade, powdered tea and powdered juices were awful with ice being scarce. Very disappointing.
Entertainment
The comedian was really great and the show we watched was okay.
