Monarch of the Seas

Sail Date: December 30, 2011

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Traveled As: Singles/Friends

Room Type: Oceanview

The ship is old but kept in good condition. The cabins are very small (we had cabin with window which turned out to be a porthole) and we didn't have a safe deposit box. That was not very good. The crew was wonderful. The food was plentiful but not great. Lobster was never offered and the selections were mediocre. Entertainment was good. RC used to offer bottles of water without going into port or tours. Now they sell the water. I thought it was in poor taste.

Pros: Service and New Year's Eve party. RC did a terrific job to celebrate NYE.

Cons: Food was mediocre. New York Strip steak on last night was very thin and not very good.

Recommends Monarch of the Seas (RETIRED) 221? Yes!

Food and Dining
They could have had better choices and better quality of steak. The surf and turf was shrimp not lobster. We have had lobster in the past in RC cruises.
Cabin / Stateroom
Cabin was extremely small. Person sleeping on inside of queen bed had to crawl out.
Ship Quality
Service and Staff
The crew was very nice. Our cabin attendant was the best.
