Fabulous cruise for first-time cruisers!

Sail Date: August 01, 2011

Room Type: Suite

I cruised on the Monarch back in 2000 and was a little leery of how the ship held up after 11 years of use, but was pleasantly surprised. This is a beautiful and accessible ship - easy to navigate as it is a smaller ship. Royal Caribbean has taken great care of this gem! This was my hubby's first cruise ever and this was the PERFECT cruise for that - a smaller ship with impeccable service!

Pros: Food and easily navigated ship

Cons: many activities overlapped with dining

Recommends Monarch of the Seas (RETIRED) 221? Yes!

Comedian Bruce Gold was hilarious! DO NOT miss his shows! The only negative that we found was that many of the activities that we wanted to do seemed to conflict with our dinner time (8:30pm). The Love and Marriage game show, Battle of the Sexes, and The Quest are all activities that had us laughing for hours!
Ship Quality
Very clean! And they were constantly cleaning!
Food and Dining
Cabin / Stateroom
We had a Junior Suite with a balcony - absolutely worth the money for the extra room and full size tub.
Service and Staff
Staff recognized us all over the ship and would call us out by name - that's the kind of service that Royal Caribbean is known for!
