Great trip for a first timer

Sail Date: May 16, 2011

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Inside

My husband and I enjoyed this cruise. It was our first time and this experience will bring us back. From talking to other cruisers, this is a small ship, but for a first timer it was the right size. The staff was great and the ship was very clean and organized.

Pros: food, activities, and Coco Cay

Cons: aggressive locals selling stuff

Recommends Monarch of the Seas (RETIRED)? Yes!

Ship Quality
The layout of the ship was simple and easily accessible. The ship was kept clean at all times. I was extremely impressed with the stateroom attendants. They cleaned our room in the morning while we were out. We came back and napped and then left again. When we came back, the bed had been made again.
Cabin / Stateroom
We had an interior stateroom which was small but comfortable enough for the 2 of us.
Entertainment
If you could not find something to do, then you were a stick in the mud. There were so many activities going on at every moment of the day and into the wee hours of the morning.
Food and Dining
Food in the buffet was good. There was a wide selection that would please anyone. The main dining hall had a variety of options on the menu and, if you wanted to, you could order multiple items and there was no additional charge. We did not eat in the steakhouse as there were plenty of options in the other 2 locations that were included. The steakhouse was additional.
Service and Staff
The staff was great and went above and beyond to make everyone comfortable.
Cococay (Cruiseline's Private Island)
Cococay was a great place to stop and enjoy the beach. The water was beautiful and if you walk down the beach away from all the activities you can find some seclusion that offers peace and quiet.
Don't Miss: the beach
Nassau, Bahamas
I did not care for the aggressiveness of the local services - taxis, vendors, etc. If you like shopping and drinking then the city is for you. We took a taxi to Paradise Island and briefly walked around and ended up on the public beach next to the resort. The beach was gorgeous and the water was calm and a beautiful blue.
Don't Miss: beaches by Atlantis Resort
