An enjoyable getaway

This weekend cruise went very quickly. It was surprisingly cool & breezy (not in Royal Caribbean's control). The ship is a beautiful, well maintained ship with a very friendly, helpful staff. This was an enjoyable, short cruise. I was particularly disappointed in having to buy soft drinks while on board. I was also irritated when an 18% gratuity is automatically added to drink bills. A gratuity is meant to be a customer's OPTION to reward the server for the type of service he/she provides. This OPTION was taken away from me and made mandatory. This all makes the cruise line look cheap and destitute giving the appearance that they are trying disparately to scrounge for every last penny before they go out of business. VERY DISAPPOINTING ! ! ! We did see the same thing on our cruise on the Radiance of the Seas in January, 2007.

Pros: Very nice accommodations on a luxury liner & seeing new places

Cons: Cheap tactics to pinch more money from us - paying for soft drinks, assuming gratuities

Recommends Monarch of the Seas (RETIRED)? Yes!

Ensenada, Mexico

Don't Miss: We enjoyed the ATV ride excursion which was very well done.
