Weekend Cruise to Mexico

Sail Date: February 08, 2008

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Inside

This ship is not very attractive and not as impressive as others in the Royal Caribbean fleet. It appears to be ready for a major upgrade/overhaul. We heard that it had been taken out of service for 12 weeks for refitting, but were were misled. It was only out of service for 12 DAYS! In that short time, little could be done to improve the appearance of the interior. We felt like it was a "blue collar" cruise (not the usual high class experience we expect). We will not cruise on this ship again unless it is upgraded considerably.

Pros: Ease of Boarding

Cons: Ship was in disrepair (worn out carpets, peeling paint, etc.) Rowdy, intoxicated fraternity boys.

Recommends Monarch of the Seas (RETIRED)? No.

Ensenada, Mexico
There is not much to do in Ensenada. We prefer to stay on board the ship and enjoy the ship's activities.
Don't Miss: Sit by the pool on the ship and enjoy a good book.
