Great long weekend getaway

Sail Date: March 01, 2010

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Family w/older children

Room Type: Oceanview

We recently sailed on the Monarch of The Seas and had a great time in spite of the initial "plumbing issue" when we boarded. The food is great and plentiful, the staff is freindly and accomodating, and there is always something to do aboard the ship (most of which is FREE). Don't miss the multiple karioke sessions or the Adult Scavenger Hunt (last night onbaord - kids not allowed). Be prepared to laugh and blush at the same time. Magician and Comedian were very entertaining and worth the time. Stateroom was great and quiet, we couldn't hear hardly any extraneous noise. Loved the very hot water in the shower although the pressure could have been a little better but still commercially okay. Good value for a long weekend. The disembarkation process is surprisingly quick for a ship carrying over two thousand passengers.

Pros: Wide variety of activities available for all ages, great staff, very freindly

Cons: Plumbing problems, toilets wouldn't flush for the first 5-6 hours we were onboard

Recommends Monarch of the Seas (RETIRED)? Yes!

Food and Dining
Loved the food. There were only three 30 minute periods where we couldn't eat. The Double Strawberry Cheesecake and Grand Marnier Souflee were incredible.
Service and Staff
Just ask and you get whatever you need.
Entertainment
Wonderful Activities Staff!!!
Ship Quality
We never felt crowded and there was always a quiet place to get away from everyone.
Cabin / Stateroom
We were on Deck 9 in an outside stateroom. The beds were comfortable to me and there was a small corner sofa for relaxing and reading. The ships TV system was okay but I really liked the onboard channel to find out what was happening.
