I am , as I type, on this ship and miserable. They sold me and took my money for two rooms.... 9008 and 9006 for the cruise on December 7 2009. because I made a mistake in pairing off who was in what room they will not let me have roomn 9006 and even told me it will be empty the whole trip. They first told me in the terminal They would put us in both rooms when we get on the ship. Then we get on the ship and they say one of our rooms will be put up for sale to stand by passangers. We say we will buy it then they say, "no it will not be sold and we cant buy it" . Why lie to us? Anyway.... it is an old ship, nasty. The bathroom stinks from where all the years of poo have built up in the pipes and now fume the room. All the employees are angry and unhappy. The passangers are all on edge. One pasanger bought a shot of some type of alcahol , poored it into his Royal Caribian souvenier cup and the bar tender grabed it and trew it away. The poor passanger didnt know you were not allowed to buy a shot from the boat poor it into the cruise ship provided cup. I can only say you will get what you pay for if you take this cruise. For instance I got a steak at dinner that felt like a leather shoe. Morning breakfast room service is a collection of jellies! The entertainment staff is wonderfull as well as the cabin attendents! They care about what they are doing unlike the corporation and guest servises. Yes plenty of pluses for this cruise. I value diversity and I appreciate that this cruise is full of diversity!!!! I plan to leave this review up unless Royal Caribian a) apoligizes for the way they treated me B) allows me to enter the vacant room they have denied me entrance to and have paid for . Otherwise, once Im off the boat it is too late!

Food and Dining

Terrible. The specialty reasturant is good but the enclusive dinning is uneatable

Entertainers are very talented. They did not spend any money on the rights to play any popular songs. All "B Side" songs. Comidian is pretty good. He has a wonderful song called "Ship Life"...I love that song. Ill update my reveiw about entertainment once cruise is over

Service and Staff

Everyone seems so angry! Read my reveiw about the poor un-knowing soul who innocently poored his shot into his Royal Carribian mug that he was proud of. They jerked it from him. threw it down and at first would not return it, but to the staff's credit after he begged and pleadeed that he had no idea it was against the rules to poor ship boaght liquqer from one of the ships provided containers into another of the ship's provided containers they angrily allowed him to keep his mug and reimbursesd him for shot

Ship Quality

Old plumbing. Smells bad.

Cabin / Stateroom

Tiny but the room attendant is the best in the bussiness. I have been on Crystal, seabourn, etc but the room attendants are second to none on this ship

Pros: Impressed with the diversity Royal Carribian offers. Nice to see a cruise with so many African-americans and not just one race. Also very affordable

Cons: Very old dingy ship. Smells bad, food is terriable. Most staff seem to hate thier job.

Recommends Monarch of the Seas? No.
