Our Royal Carribbean Cruise

Sail Date: June 26, 2009

Reviewed: 7 years ago

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Oceanview

This was our first time cruise on Royal Carribbean, and we chose Monarch of the Seas as it was a short cruise and we were introducing our 9 year old grandson to cruising. Entering the ship was beautiful, very open and beautifully decorated. We were impressed! Our great impression ended when we entered our ocean view stateroom on the 6th floor! We have been on many cruises, a couple of which were older ships, but I have NEVER seen such a small stateroom! It was a nightmare, no place to unpack and put anything, we could hardly move when we were in the room, the bathroom was so small that you could barely dry off after a shower, it was horrendous! There was never ice in our room, unless we could "find" our room steward and ask for it. We did not find the crew to be very friendly overall. The exception was our waiter and his assistant in Vincent's Dining Room, they were absolutely wonderful, I can't say enough about their service and kindness. We decided by the second day that we would not cruise with Royal Carribbean again.

Pros: Food & Entertainment

Cons: Cabins are way TOO small; crew not as friendly as other cruise lines; too many others to list

We've been to Nassau several times, so this was no big deal. However, I would highly recomend "swimming with the dolphins" at The Blue Lagoon! This was our second time there, and we just loved every minute of it!
