The Monarch of the Seas is an older ship. It feels a little ghetto with the dings and things in your cabin that is tiny for a Stateroom with an ocean view sounds like. There was a lot of food, but it was mediocre. You could only get a lemonade if you didn't want to buy a carbonated beverage or alcohol. I don't drink, so I bought a couple of shirley temples and a Virgin mango daquiri. They cost me about 4-5 dollars each. Would it kill them to have juice available?!

The ships activities that I enjoyed were the Ping Pong tables, The climbing wall, the pool and hottub. A lot of the contests like "the sexy man's legs contest" started out fun, but then the director of the event stopped it and said that it was too "G" rated and that we should spice it up, so he did a lap dance in front of the female judges and then told them that they could touch whatever they wanted. Kids are on this cruise and they were just glued to the activity after that.

I got off in Ensenada, MX to go and see the geyser. It was nice for $42 dollars if you like looking at graffiti, trash everywhere, and people that are trying to leech off of Americans. The ATV beach excursion sounded a lot better but was only around $162 for two people, so we ddn't go on that one.

Overall, I am easy to please and reading a book or watching cnn while on a cruise ship was relaxing. I enjoyed some people that I met and ate with, but overall I did not enjoy the cruise nearly as much as I had expected.

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food is mediocre. Lots of it during the dinners and lunch and breakfast times. In between, there really isn't much fruit at all. I could only see apples that had a ton of wax on them. No whole bananas, kiwis, mangos, anything. The ambiance at dinner and breakfast was great. I really enjoyed those times. The food was not great by any means. It was either dry or tough or it was missmatched like scallops with a bisque that were not made for each other at all.

the musical was great. The comic was good on the 2nd day. His 3rd day late night show was extremely dirty with jokes and topics ranging from Porn to Vibrators etc.

Service and Staff

The waiters were nice and friendly. The activities people were helpful, but the contest people that had things by the pools were aweful. I couldn't enjoy the dj that kept tell people to "push it out" and hip thrust. I couldn't enjoy the staff member that wanted things to not be "G" rated, but "X" rated.

Ship Quality

The ship is old. Some rooms that my dinnermates were staying in had a constant creeking noise when the boat moved (which is constant). It felt clean on an average, but there were definitely some broken and dinged things. Our stateroom had dings all over the main corner in the room. The ship was a good size. The layout was understandable after the first day. It was not convenient when you could only go up to the 7th floor on one side of the ship to go across the ship to the other elevator that could take you to the 11th floor ( top deck).

Cabin / Stateroom

it was like a tiny motel room. I slept well. There was a small tv that had channels, but many were hazy and it seemed that it just repeated the same episodes and movies everyday at the same times.

Pros: I really liked sitting on the deck and reading a book.

Cons: I didn't like the drunks and the staff that wanted the contests to be more Erotic.

Recommends Monarch of the Seas? No.
