4 Night Baja Mexico (Los Angeles Roundtrip)
Sail Date: March 31, 2008
Ship: Monarch of the Seas
Cabin Type: Oceanview

The ship was fine, but I would recommend looking for a ship with a larger rooms. The other ship I traveled on had considerably more room in an average stateroom.

Food and Dining

Our greatest diasapponitment was the lack of an ice cream or frozen yogurt bar in the cafe, even though it was advertised on the Royal Caribbean website. We had promised our kids that they could eat ice cream any time they wanted for a whole week, but the only ice cream available was at the costly Ben and Jerry's shop. I realize that this sounds silly, but we had a hard time getting over it.

Entertainment

The pools are not heated, full of salt water, and replaced every other day. Do not plan a lot of swimming unless you are on the ship in the middle of summer.

Children's Programs

Our teenage kids did not find the staff and activities very entertaining.

Service and Staff

The staff was wonderful.

Have a beer by the ship, and then get back on.

Pros: Our family loved the independence our children could have on a cruise. We were not worried about thier safety, and we were able to spend quality time with them and allow them to roam the ship on their own.

Cons: The rooms were tiny, and we were feeling quite cramped after a few days.

Recommends Monarch of the Seas? No.
