Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

This cruise was a terrific mid-week getaway, and in almost every aspect a great deal. The locations for on shore exploring are nothing exotic, but fun places to be and after a day ashore, it was nice to return to the comforts of home on the ship. I returned to my regular home relaxed and overfed, ready to try it again some time.

Pros: Shore time, Dinner time, Chocolate buffet time

Cons: Lining up for safety presentation at beginning of cruise

Recommends Monarch of the Seas (RETIRED)? Yes!

Ship Quality
Lots of places to go. Exploration of the ship takes at least a couple of hours. It has only two spa/whirlpools, both in the center of the ship, which filled up in the late afternoon with a rowdier bunch than I would have liked. Morning before breakfast is a quiet time to use them. Interior space is appointed with new carpets and upholstered furniture, all kept clean. Very few balcony staterooms, and the oceanview rooms have windows not likely used much.
Food and Dining
The food in the dining room is certainly good. It is not "omigod" great though, and selection is limited to about 4 or 5 entrees each night. We liked our dining companions, so pre-arranged seating worked out in this case, but might not work for every traveler.
Cabin / Stateroom
The rooms are small, but the bed was comfortable, so relaxing was not a problem. Having cleanup service regularly is definitely a plus.
Entertainment
We missed out on a number of the events, there are way too many to attend. Those we did see were entertaining, but not yet ready for Broadway.
Service and Staff
Absolutely wonderful people to help in all areas of the ship. Friendly and courteous staff were found at every turn
