Great Cruiise - could improve more

The ship is simply fantastic. Though it's maiden voyage was in November, 2003, this ship seems very new. Very clean, well kept with LOTS of on board things to do and places to go. Even though there are close to 4000 passengers, you would not know it WHILE ON BOARD. Troublesome is getting almost 4,passengers on and off the ship in Galveston. Ports of call present no real problem for getting off/on the ship. Dining room food is ok, we only ate dinner there twice because the food in the windjammer (buffet) was better. It also seems like the waiters and bus boys are really focused on the end of the week tips. We requested (and got) a table for 2 in the dining room. the waiter stood by us and talked during most of our 2 meals (not really why we requested a table for 2). Hand washing is REALLY emphasized and purell before entering any eating area is mandatory. This is good for passengers and keeps sickness to a minimum.

Pros: The ship is fantastic! On board amenities are great. nice relaxing cruise

Cons: boarding is troublesome, Royal Caribbean didn't miss an opportunity to extract more revenue from their guests

Recommends Mariner of the Seas? Yes!

Food and Dining
Breakfast is open seating. You can order off the limited menu, but most all eat the buffet breakfast set up in the DR. We ate lunch/dinner in the Windjammer (Buffet) because of the good food and the very large selection.
Ship Quality
Cabin / Stateroom
We had an inside stateroom. Got a real deal on the cruise. Our room was very nice and was kept very clean. We spent a lot of time in the ships public areas (pool, spa, deck, lounge chairs) because we had no balcony. Nonetheless, public areas were clean and just fine for us
Service and Staff
Bar help in the Voyager lounge (The "round room" at the very top of the ship) were lazy. I had to get cocktails myself when there were 2 of us. Noticed that when there were larger groups, bar staff were more on the ball. (must be the size of the tip). Gratuities are already added to your bar bill. They provide you a chance to leave a gratuity (if you did not see that it was already added)
