Enjoyable cruise with a few exceptions

Sail Date: May 01, 2008

Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Balcony

The ship is beautiful. We found the majority of staff pleasant and helpful.

Staterooms we had were great -- one suggestion: have the attendants wipe down the balcony railing daily. The lead stateroom attendant could use a few lessons in preferred customer service. They left a chewed piece of lime in my parent's bathroom! Yuck!

If you drink soda, getting one at meals is a hassle. Also a hassle to get what you want for your stateroom frig. Room service was off a few times, but overall, acceptable and most pleasant. The manager of the Windjammer, Albert, was fantastic. He received our gratuity generally intended for the head waiter, as we only ate once in the main dining room. We had a special dinner at Chops --which was fantastic, although it should be for the price paid. We were charged at Chops for water... and we feel that a glass of wine with dinner should be included with the $25 per person ticket, not to mention -- the water. The staff at Chops were wonderful and attentive.

Pros: Windjammer buffet and its staff

Cons: Fixed dining rooms, stateroom staff

Recommends Mariner of the Seas? Yes!
