Not Impressed!

Sail Date: June 01, 2007

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Family w/young children

Room Type: Inside

For our family, this was not that great at all. WARNING! DO NOT STAY ON THE 6th FLOOR, inside room facing the Promenade. You will not sleep! We had our children with us and had two rooms over the Bar! Every night, terrible loud music was interrupting our sleep. If we were alone, we could have gone out, but with 2 small kids, we were trapped. It took them 4 nights to move us.
Pools are small and are not kid friendly-very deep, and very crowded. There must have been 40 people in on 30x20 pool. It is laughable!
Food is ok. Entertainment is good. Camp for kids was nice and useful. The biggest disappointment was the famous beaches in St. Thomas. They are run down, dirty, crowded, without facilities and terrible, low quality food. Waste (of time, money and it is everywhere). Shame in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
St. Marteen was nicer, and you can take a taxi to a more private beach. French are snootty, but food is great!

This may be our last cruise, ever. For partying and hanging out with LOTS of FRIENDS, this may be great, but othewise we felt like hurd of sheep trying to find our way around. Worst 6K we ever spent on vacation. Also, budget for at least $300-400.00 additional expense on tips (per family). They do deserve their tips! But that is how cruise keeps their costs reasonable. They don't pay their staff - and then charge $150.00 per person (for food and room tips) to make up staff's salary. SO be prepared.
Sorry for the disappointing review, but I had to let you know!

Pros: Cococay (away from crowds) is beautiful

Cons: Stateroom and pools

Recommends Mariner of the Seas? No.
