Family Vacation by Paulawake

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Mardi Gras

Not to lie, very disappointed with food. Best restaurant on board was Pig & Anchor, and Guys Burgers. Steaks were sub standard, not tender, desserts were nil. Choices were cookies, sponge cake. They had a place that “sold” desserts, which I have never run into before on other cruise lines. Buffet was better than most of the restaurants where you paid and the foodwas only ok on the buffet. Half the time , coffee machines were out of coffee or hot water. I love cruising and have been on over 50 cruisers, this was a big disappointment. Entertainment was also only ok. Several in our party (over 20 of us) and others on board didn’t have great experience with employees at customer service desk or restaurant hosts. Bad attitudes as if they didn’t care. Now I know why I don’t do Carnival. Next family cruise will be on Royal Caribbean or Princess. Food quality is always great and entertainment is better.

Overall I’m very happy. I have a warning, though. Baby boomers are becoming senile, and they’re spending their retirements complaining on Carnival cruises in January. by frathornton

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Mardi Gras

I think I would like to shop around for different cruises at different times with different passengers. I think about all the best and worse parts of the last week and all of them have to do with fellow passengers. This would never happen on Carnival, but I would spring at a chance to cruise with 50 as an age maximum. Not everyone was bad, but there were motorized scooters EVERYWHERE on this ship. More than once, I had to help fellow passengers in a capacity that made me feel like staff - lifting, holding doors, walking to grab something for someone, etc. that it wasn’t a very relaxing week. This time of year I thought it would be better because I was dodging the spring break and teeny boppers and college frat stars. But be careful what you wish for, I didn’t get very much of that, and instead got a whole lot of folks that don’t want to come to terms with the fact that they are retired, getting a lot older and quite curmudgeon-y. This January cruise to the Caribbean was practically a trial run for assisted living. Or at least a senior citizen community. I had a good time. I did! But if you’re a millennial like me and you are in the service industry working mostly with folks older than you, well, it might not be too relaxing! You might feel like this is more work because boomers this week didn’t seem to want to allow me to relax.

The ship was awesome so beautiful, but I hope they figure out a way to get some air flow in a lot of the places like the elevators and the casino but other than that give it a 10 out of 10 it was clean and the staff was so nice by walley48

Great Caribbean cruise by marykay567

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Mardi Gras

It was best cruise Ive been on in a while. I just wish they offered a drink package for just one person in your cabin. I rarely drink alcohol and my partner drinks more and it would’ve been nice for him to have a drink package.

The worst one yet by KristyDixon

I wrote what I really had to say under each rating section. The best part of the cruise was the dining room staff and the room staff and of course the islands.

Christmas Cruise by traybag1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mardi Gras

Christmas Cruises in general are family orientated. Ship was decorated and the holiday spirit was abound. I am growing tired of the out of control kids and witnessed some irritating things. parents need to be with kids at all times. my opinion . other than that the ship is wonderful. Christmas Cruises seem to also be more money. but it was worth it. I don't plan on doing Mardi Gras again .i am doing Jubilee this year, which I'm only doing cause my friend already booked it. I think I like Horizon and Panorama size ships better.

beautiful ship!!! by jenniw0212

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mardi Gras

The 1st half of our cruise was amazing... the second half, was kind of bad, but to no fault to carnivals... we ended up catch Flu A. I got it 5 days in and the hubs got it 6 days in. Unfortunately, we were confined to the room. I wish people who were sick would either not cruise or wear a mask to protect those around them

Loved the ship. Yes it’s big but we did not experience any long lines for anything by alyhiggins

We loved Mardi Gras will book again! Only thing we wished it had are the overhead ceilings with the cushy chairs on the deck above Lido.

Good But..... by Falcon307

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Mardi Gras

Overall my cruise was good. Weather impacted it negatively. Entertainment could have been much better. Cruise Director (Jac) was okay...tried not to compare to expected cruise director (Cookie)..but I think that had an affect on my expectations. So as started out- Good But....
