Review summary

Enjoyable cruise, in total. Most negative aspect was the behavior of college-age spring breakers who made too much noise in the halls in the evenings and were generally self-absorbed, rude and intoxicated. Many of them would have been arrested for public drunkenness on their home campus or in their college community. Sometimes, it felt like we were on a real pirate ship, with sailors and wenches running the ship and no sign of any security presence, until you wanted to get on or off the ship.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
There was a long line in the terminal but it moved quickly. Having completed most forms online made the process more efficient.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Best meal of the trip was in Johnny Rocket's. Not only were the burgers and shakes tasty, the wait staff was more entertaining than the paid performers, dancing to music over the sound system. Dinner was good, with a varied menu. The breakfast and lunch buffets had plenty of choices from healthy to pig-out and nobody in our group went hungry.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Played basketball and ping-pong. The hot tubs were always overflowing with drunken spring breakers so that was not a viable place to relax. There is one lower deck that is good for walking.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The performers were all very good. The stage shows were entertaining. The house band was good enough to tour with any headliner.

Children's Programs

No one under 25 in our group.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our cabin attendant was the bomb. It was like having a maid/butler/steward of our own. She not only kept everything clean and fresh, but responded to any request with a positive attitude and pleasant smile.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This ship was recently refurbished and scrubbed in dry dock so everything was in super ship shape.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was everything you would expect in an inside cabin. The space was adequate and everything was clean. The bed was comfortable and the heating and cooling system worked efficiently. We did not spend that much time in the room, except to sleep.

Ship tip

Take the time for at least one lunch meal at Johnny Rocket's. The cover charge is only $9.95 per person and the meal is not just food - it is an experience.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida Did not visit port

I live in Cape Canaveral.

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island)

5 out of 5
This is a nice beach destination and Royal Caribbean is in the process of developing more options for activities there. They are also building the necessary infrastructure to facilitate directly docking the ship, and avoiding the use of a ferry or tender to get to the island and back.

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
Been there, done that (about 10 times) and nothing has changed. There are worse locations in the Caribbean. Nassau is just too convenient for short cruises.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Once again, a long line formed at the beginning but it went quickly. We found our luggage easily. This cruise line seems to have this process down.
