Majesty 4-night Nassau Cruise

Sail Date: September 19, 2016

Reviewed: 2 months ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Suite

If you are looking for a short cruise from a port that is easy to get to and is not overly crowded the Port Canaveral location is very nice. We parked using the Raddison parking which we reserved and paid for on line. The shuttle to and from was very good. The arrival procedure could be improved by the port. We spent 10-minutes in the bus waiting to off load. Once on the ship the rooms were ready and the ship had lunch ready. We were in a Royal Family Suite which is two bedroom/bath. I am glad our other family members cancelled. The suite was nice but would have been uncomfortable for (4) adult persons. It was a narrow rectangle shape and with anyone sitting at the desk chair no one could get by to go to the other bedroom and bath The stall showers were small but adequate but much better than a high rail tub The raised toilets were fantastic and easier to rise from. The temperature control for the room was very poor. A maintenance man finally got it repaired on the third day and we put away our blankets that we sat around wrapped in. The balcony was very nice but the view from the 10th deck is life boats below. Straight out we had a good view but the view straight down was poor. We have never noticed that in the past so it must be the design of an older ship. One of us was sick with a very painful leg strain so we did not take tours this time since we had seen Nassau on other cruises. The Bingo on board was well run but rather strangely played. We all arrived to play Bingo and they only played one game at each session except for the last day. When compared to other Bingo games on other ships I would rate this game as a 5 out of 10. The internet was quite fast most of the time but the TV cable is a disgrace. More than half the channels are RCL company channels or non-english speaking channels with only one news channel. The VOOM network is the best internet I have used on a ship but it was a little to slow to run my sling box player from my home network. The dining was excellent in the dining room. Outstanding service and the Windjammer buffet was very good. We only tried the Mexican Speciality Restaurant and we will not go there again on that ship. The food was good but way over priced at $18/person. We thought we ordered the house margarita but it turned out to be $15 margaritas. Probably the most expensive Mexican meal I have ever had. The on board shows and musicals were similar to what we had seen on the Freedom of the Seas a few weeks earlier so we did not attend those shows. After we once got off the bus at the ship the check-in procedure on the ship as well as the departure procedure on the ship were excellent. If you rent a suite the afternoon happy hour and the special suite breakfast were excellent and well served by the staff.

Cabin / Stateroom
Nice stall shower and raised toilets. Could not warm the room because the temperature controller was blocked. Maintenance finally fixed it on the third day. Would be very tight with 4-family members. Passage between front bedroom and back bedroom is blocked if anyone is using the desk. The number of electric receptacles were adequate if you had a 220 converter.

Entertainment
Service and Staff
Food and Dining
For the most part it was very good or better. The closing down of certain seating sections made the Windjammer very crowded at times.
Port Canaveral, Florida
Cococay (Cruiseline's Private Island) Not Applicable, did not go onshore.
Nassau, Bahamas
Enjoyed shopping and Atlantis Resort.

Tip

There are a lot of things to do on the ship so learn early where the elevators will take you. The forward bank of elevators and aft bank of elevators have different floor locations. The center glass back elevators are small and only go to a few floors.
