Older ship, in need of some work but overall very good

Sail Date: December 07, 2015

Reviewed: 11 months ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

We were surprised to find the ship in need of so much repair, I would venture to guess it was just an older ship. There were some "cattle" lines when embarking and disembarking the ship. When we reached the private island the wait for the "tender boat" turned out to be hours to get off the ship.

The food was great and most of the service was outstanding as usual. The sailing was smooth and the Captain handled the vessel masterfully. We had an issue where my wife was exposed to some food she was allergic to which ruined our last two days.

Cabin / Stateroom
Small but nice, the bed was two twin beds pushed together and was a bit hard in the middle
Embarkation and Disembarkation
Getting on and off this ship proved to be a challenge, during any disembarkation they would shut off elevator access to the floor where you would get off the boat. At the private island it took hours to get off the ship as we waited for the tender boats to take passengers in to shore.
Ship Quality
Lots of upkeep and repairs needed on this vessell, visable rust, trim broken, carpet dirty, etc.

Cococay (Cruiseline's Private Island)
Arrive very early to get in line to leave the ship, there were not enough tender boats to take the passengers to shore and the wait was hours long and on a short excursion day that cut into beach time.

Tip

It may have been better to pay the mandatory tips in advance rather than wait to have it charged to our room on the last day. Waiting in line for beach towels when getting off the ship took over one hour, bring your own beach towels.
