We recently cruised Royal Caribbean's 3 day to the Bahamas on Majesty of the Seas out of Miami.  There was a welcome desk at the airport and a shuttle to the ship which was nice, but a little pricey compared to the the taxi service also available.   There is a long process to enter the ship ~ mostly security issues.

The ship was very clean, well organized and the crew was well trained in public relations.    The housekeeping crew was multi nationals, polite and able to solve any problem.   I had an attack of motion sickness on Day 2, and our our cabin guy checked in to see if he could help and brought bottled water and motion sickness medication .   They are very tuned into all their occupants and seem sincere about wanting to be helpful.     We were interested in their homelands , family and jobs as well, when we talked to them, they were honest about the long hours and hard work, but not complaining.   They all felt that Royal Caribbean was a good company.

The food was all right considering you are cooking for about 2,500 people at every meal.  There was a good variety.   The activities are well planned and designed to include the guests.        On the other hand; the ship was crowded.  Tables and chairs were packed tight together at the evening meal and the waiters had to perform incredible juggling to get the tables served.  The dining room was very noisy and it was hard to have a conversation.   The swimming pool area was very crowded and seemed to be occupied by the same groups of family or friends who commandeered the space and stayed there all day long.    Coco Bay was a nice break from the crowded ship ~ to a crowded beach.  Nassau was a dirty little town full of opportunists looking to sell something.   By the 3rd day we were ready to end the adventure.   Everything on the ship is very expensive ~ you really aren't aware of how much you are spending when you sign a receipt for all purchases.   We saw the Oasis in port and it was a monster  compared to our little boat ~ but we had no desire to be part of that great swell of humanity.  To sum it up, you should go at least ONE time on a little cruise to scratch it off the bucket list.   We plan to stick to river cruises in the future.

Ship Tip

You have to pay to get into Johnny Rocket's restaurant ~ $5 cover charge .....save your money ..... don't tip ~ a huge gratuity is already included ..... splurge on the on board massage/hair salon/pedi-mani ~ expensive, but well worth the money .
