Sail Date: July 01, 2012 Ship: Majesty of the Seas Cabin Type: Oceanview Traveled As: Couple Reviewed: 5 years ago
The public areas of the ship were very nice, recently updated, for an older ship.
Food and Dining

We liked the variety of food options\, but the quality was just so\, so. The steak was only a little better than a \"Golden Corral\" rather than the fine quality steakhouse. You had to pay extra to get a \"better\" steak whereas on my previous cruise\, you didn't pay extra except for the speciality restaurants. There was also an extra charge for lobster that was standard on previous cruise. There was some confusion about my time dining\, but it worked out great... we got the same wait staff all week and seat by the window each evening\, though we dined at different times each day.

We enjoyed the music shows. Especially enjoyed the magician and commedian. We did not go the extra activities on board.
Service and Staff

Our dining waiter and assistant were terrific. They could remember the way we liked our coffee and who got coke and diet coke after the first night... we didn't have to tell them again! They were friendly and talkative and very attentive! The head waiter only came around once. Our cabin steward was very helpful and kept the towels changed\, bed made and ice bucket filled. Throughout the ship everyone was pleasant and helpful.

We liked the size of the ship\, beautiful public areas and found it all to be very clean.
Cabin / Stateroom

Room was smaller than i've had before\, though we did have a window! Mattresses were worn out and have not been upgraded as stated (no \"plush pillow top\" in our room! We could definately feel a lump down the middle. Bed was pushed next to wall on one side which made it difficult for that person to get in and out. No place to sit except on the bed. Bathroom was like an RV. We liked having a safe that opened with a credit card and ample drawer and closet space.
Pros: Service of dining wait staff and cabin steward
