A Good Value...But Needs Work!!

Sail Date: April 09, 2012

Reviewed: 4 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

This is an older ship that has been refurbished. It is extremely well maintained. Very clean. It is a medium sized ship and the size is comfortable. Ship is steady and one feels only a slight sensation of movement. Easy to get around and for the most part seems to be "accessible"

Pros: Ship is very clean and well maintained. In general, this cruise continues to be a good value for your vacation get away dollar.

Cons: RCCL cutting too much. No excitement on board...things seemed disorganized. The bed was not comfortable!

Recommends Majesty of the Seas? Yes!

Food and Dining
This is an area where RCCL has cut back, but that is OK. The quality of the food was quite good and so was the preparation. Options for dining were fine. However, what seems to be missing was the ability to get late night snacks and some of the restaurant hours were too limited.
Service and Staff
Ship staff are very responsive. What was missing among the entertainment staff was a feeling of enthusiasm and excitement. Some of the activities seemed very disorganized and lackluster.
Entertainment
Nothing outstanding or unusual. Ship's entertainers were simply OK. The shows need to be updated. We've taken this cruise several times and we have seen the shows several times.

Cabin / Stateroom
Our statement (superior oceanview - deck 9) was fine. The room is a comfortable size. Cabin service was excellent. The room was always made-up and clean. The only complaint was the bed. It is quite hard and not good for my lower back. The bed is a thin mattress on corrugated metal panels. It looks good, but four nights is my absolute max on the bed!
