Fabulous for us first-timers!

Sail Date: February 25, 2011

Room Type: Oceanview

We were first time cruisers and took our 13 year old with us. We had an absolutely wonderful time, and it exceeded our expectations. The ports were really fun..we pre-booked a snorkeling trip which we recommend highly! They're not really do swim with the sharks...and they're not small! : ) Parasailing on Cocoa Cay was incredible, and amazingly, with the the number of people at each port/activity, we never felt crowded and always had great service! Hihgly recommend the Majesty of the Seas for anyone - couple, family, freind-trip. Although the teen activities were not well led or coordinated by the assigned cruise guide, the kids seemed to figure it our for themselves and our daughter made many freinds and had a great time all three nights. We'll be return customers, without a doubt!

Pros: The service was outstanding, very helpful staff, food was great, not much we didn't like!

Cons: The teen program coordination/cruise guide

Recommends Majesty of the Seas? Yes!

Children's Programs
As stated earlier, we were a little worried that taking our 13 yo without a friend. Even though the guide assigned to getting the kids to mingle, get to know each other, etc was not very effective, this group of kids figured it out and she made many friends and had a great time! We took along walkie-talkies - and were really glad we did! (no cell service of course). No worries with safety at all.
Food and Dining
All food was excellent. The buffet was so convenient, the scheduled dining times had exceptional service and food, and the late night pizza/drinks sure went down well! The only thing we would have liked was knowing from the website that you should bring dress-up clothes for the Captiain's dinner. Had we not talked with freinds before leaving (and fortunatley packed some) we would not have been comfortable attending the captain's dinner with the casual clothes we took otherwise.
Cabin / Stateroom
We had a state resident upgrade when we booked and were pleasantly surprised with the stateroom with the ocean view port hole. Had plenty of room for the three of us.
Service and Staff
All staff, regardless of their role, are incredibly freindly and helpful. You can ask a question of anyone. The only exception was the one staff member in charge of coordinating the teen activities. Not very enthusiastic or effective in getting things going with the teens. Likely an isolated case as everyone else was top notch.
We were never bored, never without options for something to do. We attended 2 comedy shows (both hilarious), a magic show (very good!), and in between shopping, walking, dancing, relaxing, sunning, casino fun, etc...there was no time for naps! There are great intro sessions for first timers that keep you well informed of cruise culture. The cruise directors are wonderful in getting the crowd pumped and getting you out there dancing and/or singing along!
Ship Quality
Fellow cruisers tell us the Majesty is not one of the larger ships, which are typical for the 7 - 9 day trips, but we don't think we even got to some of the was huge to us!
Cococay (Cruiseline's Private Island)
The whole day was great! Reasonably priced items in the straw market, great food/drinks. Para-sailing was so worth it! Great videos and great fun!
Don't Miss: For us - the para-sailing.
Nassau, Bahamas
The market place was a little crazy...salesmen/women on steroids selling their goods! But the prices were good...and you just keep plugging through. We pre-booked a snorkeling trip. Fabulous!
Don't Miss: Stuart Cove's snorkeling trip. 3 stops to snorkel...the last one with sharks. Big ones.
