Review summary

We have always wanted to go on an Alaska Cruise. We are glad we chose Princess. The sights were beautiful and we saw whales. The cruise in Glacier Bay and and excursion to Misty Fjord were both outstanding and worth the trip. Our dissappointment was the very short stops at Juneau and Ketchikan where we would have like a couple more hours to see the towns after our 6+ hour excursion. I really wanted to shop in both places and didn't have any time to do so. I feel like we missed out here. Overall it was a great adventure.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food was good, it was not outstanding, but good and there were a lot of choices. The service in the main dining room was very good. The Buffet Servers were great, the waiters in the Buffet were terrible, very surly and unattentive. This was a real suprise.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There was always a lot to do!

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The production shows were good, but I would say much less than we had expected. Very standard cruise shows, not up to the quality of the Broadway Shows we have had on other lines. This was disappointing. The music in the main lobby every day was very nice to sit and enjoy with a drink in the afternoon, especailly the string duo!

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Jerry in the Main Dining Room was great! Kamal our Room Steward was great. Both gave excellent service. Overall the staff was very friendly and helpful. The one exception was the waiters in the Buffet, they were terrible, rude, unhelpful and acted as if they were doing a favor by waiting. It was like they were angry about having to work there.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was very nice, well maintained and clean - especially our stateroom was very clean (very important). Again, the Buffet tables should have been wiped off between guests eating and kept much cleaner - waiters should have been doing thier job.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very nice, well maintained, very clean and in excellent condition. Bathroom could use an update.

Ship tip

For an Alaska Cruise get a balcony room!

We spent way too long at this port, where there was little to do. this time could have been better spent at Juneau or Ketchikan.

Juneau, Alaska

4 out of 5
With only 7 hours at this port was not enough time, by the time we had finished our excursion, we had no time to shop or see the town, which we would have liked to do. This was very disappointing!!!

Ketchikan, Alaska

Again with only 6 hours at this port was not enough time, by the time we had finished our excursion, we had no time to shop or see the town or go shopping, which we would have liked to do. This was very disappointing!!!
