Because it is a smaller ship, there are only elevators in the front and back of the ship, none midship. Keep this in mind if walking is an issue.
Good size ship for getting into smaller harbors. The crew is great, really helpful and friendly even when the passengers were difficult.
Don't hesitate to cruise on the Maasdam just because it is smaller and older than many of the newer ships. It is very relaxed and offers all the amenities you could want.
Deck 6 is very convenient to access the outside walking deck. It is also covered in case of rainy weather for viewing glaciers, etc.
We really enjoyed being on deck 5, as it was quiet and close to everything. Most of the time, the gangway was located on this deck. We were mid-forward.
I was in a scooter cause my legs don't work very well. Getting around the ship was very easy except for getting it into the cabin. The door way is very small.
You will have a great trip, eat well and sleep well. Forget your worries
The ship was very easy to get around. The staff was fantastic. Entertainment was varied: there was something for everyone. My favorite place was the Crow's Nest with its large windows and excellent view of the sea at the front of the ship.
They have a happy hour 4 -5 in two places where the second drink is only a doller
Check the daily schedule. There is so much going on you will have to choose which activities to participate in. Listen to announcements so as not to miss something of interest.
Everything was faster on the smaller ship embarkation/debarkation/elevators. Great Ship
We were floor 9 near the back. There's a small deck out back with 8 chaise lounges and steps leading up to the pool & bar on 10 then more steps to the buffet restaurnt on 11. So very convenient, though at times noisy hearing furniture being arranged overhead. Lifts were also nearby the cabin.
We like to go to eat on the Lido deck. No long wait - just pick your food choices and your on your way. Nice salad bar and ice cream is refreshing.
check your trip goal and make sure that the customer reviews are aligned with your goals, to do not be disappointed.
The Maasdam is a beautiful, well equipped ship. The staff are so pleasant and cordial to all. I have never seen a staff person with an "attitude". They can't do enough for you. They are always smiling.
Very old ship, public restrooms often not working. The ship did have a self service laundry which was great especially on a two week cruise.
The Maasdam is an older ship. Some of the common areas were to cold and the seats are quite worn. Seating on them was not to comfortable. The people in the dining areas provided excellent service.
got good help in infirmary
