We are avid cruisers, and this was our first experience on Holland America. While the cruise was not bad or unenjoyable, we feel that this ship's quality was not up to the standards of other cruise ships we have been on.

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Overall, the food was good. Dining room was very hot and the problem was not resolved until day three after much complaining from our table.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Not much variety. Same performers every night but one which was disappointing.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Staff was great. Although there must have been many new people as some appeared not to know where things were and could not answer questions.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship never felt overcrowded. Beautiful atrium.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Loved the tub and spaciousness of the bathroom. Did not like the location of cabin which was far aft and VERY noisy.

Pros: Ease of embarking and debarking. Ports of call.

Cons: Smoking allowed in prime public areas.

Recommends Maasdam? No.
