This was our first cruise, taken for seven days on 8/25/02 - 9/1/02. I was sure glad that we didn't arrive early, because the ship didn't leave until 6:00p.m. (it was supposed to sail at 5:00pm). My first impression of the room was the colors were very gloomy with a brownish color bedding that looked very old, everyone knows pastels are the "in" color for big establishments. The window seal of the oceanview window had mold and the paint was pilling, which made you not want to sit and view the ocean. Over all the rest of the ship was very elegant. The food from the Lido deck was ok for casual eating. The main dining of the Rotterdam was very elegant, but the choices of food wasn't that great. Several nights I ordered steak, what a big mistake. The entertainment was ok, but there was not that much to do. If you drink pop or other beverages, beside water and tea, bring your own, because pop costs $1.75-$2.95 for a 12-oz. can. All of the islands are beautiful, but the stay in the Bahamas was too short from (8:00am-12:30pm). If you aren't a smoker you will be overwhelmed by the smoke on the pool decks. The crew member are all very pleasant. Cathy H.
