Liberty of the seas was great by desha87

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

This was my first cruise for me and my boyfriend and everything was great. From the food to the entertainment. Our stateroom attendant Jeffery was remarkable and he made our first cruise experience wonderful. Liberty of the seas with Royal carribbean was everything I expect and more. Their staff is from all over the world and they are very nice and attentive. I will recommend sailing with Royal carribbean for the liberty of the seas, this was one of my best trips overall and can't wait to do it again

Something more than special by mhbombadil

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

We took this cruise to celebrate my Grandson's 13th Birthday. The staff and crew made this cruise one of the best we have ever taken.  From the cabin attendant who made towel animals and left a birthday card to the wait staff and culinary staff who took special care in preparing food for my wife who has food allergies, all were more then helpful, courteous and friendly.  A wonderful way to celebrate or just enjoy a pleasant, relaxing carefree 5 days

Fall color cruise by rarnopolin133

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Had a great time on the October 8th sailing of Liberty of the Seas.

Boarding went by quickly. I think it took us 45-1 hour from entering the line to boarding the ship.

We saw most of the shows. Missing one of the comics as we went to bed early.

My wife loved the ice show so musch, she saw it twice. I sat in a second time to watch "Saturday Night Fever. Fantastic props!

Most nights we ate in the MDR. Although we had anytime dining, we had the same waiter (Mathias) for all but one of our dinners. Great service, thank you Mathias.

Not meant to be a complaint, but I am used to a more bland and unimaginative diet. However, the always offered entrees were to my liking.

One night we missed dinner completely as we lost track of time watching the shows.

For breakfast, we mostly ate in the Windjammer buffet.Once again, food was good with a wide variety of choices. Service was good/great, always someone there with an offer of coffee or juice.

At night I thought the busssing of tables was a little slow with spent dishes on many tables. Could this be the result of a personel cut or was I expecting a pristine setting every time I walked into the room?

Didn't really spend much time in the lounges listening to musice venues. I liked what I heard but I just am not a party animal anymore. Why didn't I go cruising when I was younger?

Our cabin,#6257 over looked the Promenade. Watched some of the parades from up there. Noise level as not a problem. Our steward, Diego (sp?) was attentive and always there to help.

Due to the time of year, the outside temperatures varied from cool to downright cold on deck. Usually when I cruise I have trouble finding unsaved deck chairs in the pool area. Not a problem on this cruise.

Hot tubs were warm enough to use during daytime. There are two tubs on the side of the ship in the Solarium which offered shelter from the wind and a great view of the ocean.

Except for the cool weather, the only miserable day in port was St. John, New Brunswick. Apparently those huge Bay of Fundy tides also bring along fog and rain with them. We did a city bus tour that day and wore sensible rain gear. All other days it warmed up enough for slacks and shirts, no jacket, before we returned to the ship.

Unfortunately, due to the dry hot summer, autumn has come late to New England. Only on the last day, in Halifax, did we see an aboundance of fall colors.

I would recommend this vacation to anyone, especially if they are seeking a break from tropical island hopping.

Big Smile

very disappointed by lindahoef

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Food in dinning areas, buffets, any free food was either uneatable or very disappointing.  Powered eggs!!  now that's  awful--you had to request fresh eggs or you got powered eggs???  Only good food is in the specialty restaurants--which were wonderful, however this is a obviously revenue driven tactic.

Cheap jewelry/pocketbooks/watches were hawked on deck 5 throughout the trip. Costumer service was disappointing as well....if you tipped you got better service??  Why is that?  We tipped 12.95 per day and if anyone went over and beyond I would happily tip more...Very disappointing experience. Also, English was not very well spoken or understood by the crew.

Royal C is turning  in to a cheap 2nd rate cruise line.  I will not recommend or sail with them again.

20th Anniversary- rm2598 by kshimell

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

We decided to take this cruise for our 20th wedding anniversary.  My husband is not a big fan of cruising (the last one we took was 17 years ago) but he went along with the plan.  The ship itself is nice but I was hoping for something a little more elegant.  Our room was fantastic, we opted for one with a window and was not disappointed with it (my husband was sure we were going to get one with a tiny porthole), it was a huge round window that I looked out of all the time when we were in the room.  The food was fantastic, we ordered room service a few times (the breakfast was a little sparse) but if you go to any of the restaurants you will not be disappointed because the food was fantastic  and (although I haven't checked yet) I am sure I gained at least 5 or more pounds.  We had the full drink package ( it was a little pricey, but well worth it), it covered everything you could ever want to drink, and trust me we did a lot of that (hey we were on vacation, lol).  The ports of call were nice and we opted to do a lot of it on our own, but I do recommend taking the walking tour at Bar Harbor, the guides were well informed and we will be taking a trip there to explore the area even more.  I wish we would have had more time in Nova Scotia, but once again it was just enough for us to explore to make us want to take a trip there.  The people on the ship were great, from the room service people to the people shining the handrails.  We never had any problems at all, and if I can get him to take another cruise, it will be on Royal Caribbean.  The only thing that I wan't pleased with was the fact that I told them ahead of time that it was our anniversary and wanted to celebrated it on the 2nd day, and although I was expecting something special, it never happened.  Granted they can't do a lot for everybody celebrating something, but a bottle of wine, or a card in our room would have been nice.  Other than that, I would sail again!!

New England Criuse by jctino

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Liberty of the Sea is a very beautiful ship. The Royal Promenade was a wonderful way to met people and gather.  Main room food was very good and well presented.  Disappointed that with My Time dining because you are lock-in to only one dining room. The buffet was unorganized and confusing when looking for certain food.  Unfortunately there was limited choices after 9 pm.  The Windjammer was closed at 9 pm.  I felt that the overall food and choices were better on Norwegian.  After several days you can see that the ship should be going to dry dock in January, Carpet was dirty, elevator buttons damaged and wore seats in the theater.  Lastly, they charged $1.50 for a bingo marker after charging $30 for 12 cards. Nickel and diming at its best!

Royal Caribbean cruise was awesome except for the food quality. Shore excursions were exceptionable. The Best of Boston Lexington Concord tour guide excursion was outstanding.

Very unorganized by cookielady4444

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Very unorganized. Of all the cruises we have taken (over 30) this was by far the most unorganized. The ship's daily menu was always wrong. We were told to set our clock back one hour on the wrong day. Time and time again they booked the same entertainment  rooms with two different things at the same time.  Food wasn't always cooked right. Cabin was always clean as well as the ship. Saturday Night Fever was wonderful as well as the ice skating show. Nice cruise but, the entertainment  staff needs to get their act together.

Hurricane Joaquin Led us Astray by MadeLemonade

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

We understood the need for port change....St.Johns, New Brunswick but it was kind of a dull stop. I had traveled on Royal Caribbean many times but had had not cruised for several years. Actually chose this line as I was introducing my husband to cruising for the first time! (Pretty loyal as Royal Carrib. made my last cruise with them beyond memorable during a difficult time.) Our biggest disappointment was the food/wine offerings in the dining room . Honestly, the service was good but the preparation was mediocre to poor! For example recommended pork chop would have been best used as a sole for a shoe, Scallop au gratin excellent augratin but bay scallops floating in water they had been frozen in...I use frozen scallops and I know to drain pretty well to avoid floating scallops!Wine package was an absolute joke...cheap common average to poor wine with minimal choice very pricey for what was offered! Ate one breakfast in dining room and it was terrible...Eggs Benedict slapped on a plate and cold, omelet took awhile to come out and it was nothing special! We reverted to the buffet for breakfast and lunch and the quality of food had improved but not our type of dining. Our balcony room was what we expected but there wasn't a pen or pad of paper anywhere, no shampoo...kind of weird! Entertainment was fun and I must say the price of a good top shelf liquor was fair! Gym well equipped and classes were good. Photo center was a mess difficult to view pictures as Kiosk's were broken or would freeze. Photos are gone after cruise so couldn't even purchase if we wanted to after cruise. Didn't turn my husband off for another cruise but he suggested we investigate a different line...Kind of a shame as I felt Royal Carrib. meant consistent quality!!

unusual cruise by marktx937

we weren't able to go on the itinerary posted as ther was a hurricane in our area.  we went to st. johns new brunswick and the bay of fundy instead.   it was still a fun trip on a nice ship with friendly and helpful workers from the dining rooms (table 811) to my cabin steward (cabin 6278).

NEVER AGAIN by sisterbigger

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

This was my 11th cruise with Royal Caribbean, but last one was 15 years ago. I will NEVER cruise with this line again. My family and I had all prepaid gratuities and prepaid drink packages. Once these bartenders started to realize that we were prepaid and would NOT be giving additional tips for every drink, they began treating us as subhuman. From that point on, we were the "low lives" of the ship. We had to beg for drinks, for service. Yet the people next to us that were paying and tipping for each drink got the superior service that we shouldve received. We saved for 5 years for this trip, and being that its always been an all inclusive experience, I didn't think we needed to save hundreds more to be able to eat anywhere but the disgusting buffet. The food in there should never have passed inspection. So I thought let's go to one of their restaurants. NOPE. Between me and my family, another hundred. OK, lets go to Johnny Rockets, I have such great memories of that place. NOPE, more money. This ship was divided into two classes......the "I have money to piss away" class, and the "I busted my ass working two jobs for five years and don't have extra to spend" class. NEVER again. They could offer me a free cruise and I would never step foot onto one of their ships again. This was my entire family's first cruise, and for years I built up their excitement, and anticipation, all to have their hopes destroyed within hours of boarding and seeing that unless I took out a small loan, we wouldn't be enjoying the cruise as expected.

ANY PORT IN A STORM by lostoasis2003

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

THIS WAS MY FIRST CRUISE ON A PASSENGER SHIP. I'VE CRUISED ON A US NAVY DESTROYER. INTERESTINGLY, I HAD EXPERIENCE IN A STORM ON A SHIP. WELL, ALTHOUGH THE ITINERARY WAS FOR BERMUDA, WE DID NOT GO THERE. UNFORTUNATELY, HURRICANE JOAQUIN WAS "HAMMERING" THE BAHAMAS AND ALL AREAS IN THE REGION OF THE ATLANTIC. THE CRUISE LINE MADE THE DECISION, FOR SAFETY OF ALL, TO CHANGE THE PORT OF CALL. WE WENT TO SAINT JOHN, NEW BRUNSWICK, CANADA. THE WEATHER WAS TOO COOL FOR MOST OF THE TRIP TO PARTAKE IN ON DECK OUTSIDE ACTIVITIES, BUT THE CRUISE DIRECTOR AND CREW FILLED OUR TIME WITH PLENTY OF ENTERTAINMENT AND INDOOR ACTIVITY. BECAUSE OF THE PRICE DIFFERENTIAL DUE TO CHANGE OF PORT, EVERYONE RECEIVED AN ONBOARD CREDIT, WHICH COULD BE USED FOR ANY PURCHASES ON THE SHIP. WHILE IN SAINT JOHN, WHICH WAS ONLY A 12 HOUR DOCKING, WE SHOPPED AND DID SIGHT-SEEING. WE CAME ON THE CRUISE IN A PARTY OF 10, MOSTLY FAMILY, AND SOME FRIENDS. THAT HELPED A LOT AND WE HAD FUN. ROYAL CARIBBEAN DID A GREAT JOB UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES. WE WOULD TRAVEL WITH ROYAL CARIBBEAN AGAIN. SURE, IT WAS DISAPPOINTING NOT GOING TO BERMUDA. BUT WE'LL SAIL THERE SOMEDAY, JUST NOT DURING HURRICANE SEASON.

Diverted Bermuda Cruise by malmindo001

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

We were looking forward to going somewhere warm in October...but alas...the weather did not cooperate. We ended up going to St. John, Canada! We have to say that the crew did everything in their power to make our cruise enjoyable. Our balcony cabin was roomy and very clean. The ship is older but is still beautiful and is constantly being cleaned. The entertainment was wonderful, always something going on in various parts of the ship.

Due to the hurricane we had to detour to St.John, New Brunswick. Which was beautiful, we had great weather to walk around and Enjoy the scenery. The ship had a lot to offer, the shows were great. The singing group The Cat's Pajamas were a great group of men. Had fun, Enjoy every minute.
