Review summary

I started sailing on RC in 1999 and loved it.  Been on NCL and Carnival as well and always came back to RC. This trip was disappointing..... I had bragged to our grandson about what he would experience and it's just not the same experience as it used to be. No wine steward/bar service, and the assistant waiter could not understand English. The food overall was not good.what we used to get on the main dining room we now have to pay for in the specialty restaurants. Those three restaurants were wonderful.  The lobster /prime rib night in the aim dining room was good, but the other evenings were not. One evening following the lamb my hubby ended up throwing up in the bathroom on the way back from

our meal.  The Windjammer was DISGUSTING!!!!!!

Our cabin attendant was nice, but whatever happened to making towel animals? We got two on a seven day trip, and. I special welcoming for our grandson for his first cruise we had requested.

I used to really enjoy the band by the pool on deck 11, but they have vanished.  So did the midnight buffet and ice carvings.

To top it off, we got a different cabin than what we requested (through American Airlines) no pullout bed, but a bunk that dropped from the ceiling.  Try sleeping under a creeping bed for a week.   No sleep.

For me  no more Royal Caribbean.

I'm surprised at people making statements about false statements when their own FEW experiences do not give them the knowledge of what happens on every ship and every cruise line. It's entertaining! I once heard someone say, "I ain't never been on a boat that rocks this much!" It was her SECOND cruise! Lol!

On Oasis class you do reserve your shows in advance, that's how they accommodate such a large crowd, you can only attend each show once

you actually don't and can't make reservations for any of the shows. it's 1st Come, 1st serve. I'm surprised at the false statements people make. the Windjammer is VERY good with a lot of choices. the dining room is good, some things are better than others but there were about 3500 guests on our last cruise June 19th so I take into consideration that they serve 3000 people (not including staff..another 1500) in a very short period of time with the 2 dining times. if you don't like mass production food, take a smaller , more intimate, cruise.....for 10xs the price..

I wasn't badmouthing any line. I was just mentioning that they seemed to treat the older passengers a little better. A person is entitled to their opinion. The ship was nice enough but we could never get service, they catered to the older crowd. I am almost 60 and had trouble getting drinks or service to purchase jewelry on board. Royal has its quirks too but I like the customer service better than on Princess. It is partly my fault for not getting all of my loyalty points. I didn't pay attention when they started the program so from 1970-2008 I never got credit for cruising with Royal. I have been on 35 cruises with them but only have credit for 4.

We also like Royal better, but would never bad mouth the others that we were on...

@ TNT..RC doesn't charge for most their restaurant at all, they have a lot of free options on board, I hear Carnival Vista is really bad for nickle and diming now.you only reserve shows on Oasis class ships, and Quantum class.

Yes, no midnight buffets. Some triple occupancy cabins have sofa sleeper and others have Pullman's, you should have asked which it was. When we cruised Oasis in January they had a band at the pool, they don't play nonstop, but they do play about 45 minutes, take a break and come back, we cruise RC almost all the time, we are now Diamond members, and still prefer them over Carnival or Princess

I have been cruising with Royal since 1970, before the loyalty programs. Never got credit for my earliest cruises. The quality has definitely dropped in all aspects. I tried Princess on my last trip. Never again! Guess I'm not old enough for them. Going to go back to Royal next April.

Carnival has midnight buffets.

...you requested RC receives.

The midnight buffet is a thing of the past on all cruise lines, but on my cruise back in May the Cruise Director said it was coming back later this year to Carnival. I wouldn't cruise RC since they charge for most of the restaurants and you have to make reservations for a lot of the shows. Sometimes even if you book with a travel agent or outside company you should check to make sure everything
