Did not want to leave!

Sail Date: August 15, 2009

Reviewed: 7 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

As first time cruisers we had no real idea what to expect, so we tried to go in with no expectations to avoid dissapointment. We had a balcony stateroom and it was much larger than I thought it would be. The interior of the ship was incredibly spacious and not at all claustrophobic. There were times we forgot we were on a ship. Plus, who doesn't want to sail on the largest ship in the world? The ship itself was magificent.

Pros: service, activities, absolute relaxation

Cons: passengers reserving pool chairs and no one enforcing the no saving chairs policy

Recommends Liberty of the Seas? Yes!

Ship Quality
Food and Dining
I do cook better than many of the meals we had, but I also do not have to cook for 4000 people. The food was great, even if I make better.
Cabin / Stateroom
Perfect amount of storage for us. The layout was good. The entire stateroom was much bigger than we expected.
Service and Staff
Our room attendant was fantastic. We never had any trouble with the room, but I am confident he would have taken care of us. He did look out for our bags at the beginning of the ship when we were still waiting for them.
All the shows were fun and had great special effects. We only ever skipped the Beatles tribute simply because we were not interested, but there were plenty of other things to do so we were not at all bored. Everything was very clearly communicated to us via the daily compass.
Philipsburg, St. Maarten
The city was a little dirty and we did not visit the beaches, but do be aware of the clothing optional areas. We stuck to shopping and the ship's shopping guides were a fantastic help with finding deals and haggling down prices. Do go to the shopping preview on the ship the day before because the information we received was great. All of the excursions at this port were ridiculously over priced, so I would shop then get back to the ship for pool time.
Don't Miss: Shopping!
Labadee (Cruiseline Private Island)
Some of the best ship food was on this island day! Have your chairs set in the shade because you will get good sun anyway. Many of the excursions were too expensive for us, but next time we will try some snorkelling. The water mats we rented were completely worth it. Make sure you get towels on board the ship because they will not be available on the island.
Don't Miss: Get the rafts. They were money well spent.
San Juan, Puerto Rico
Be careful how much you book here because we did not have much time at this port. Next time we will visit the fortress. The Bacardi Rum tour was a good time, and our bus driver gave us a tour of the city at no additional charge because we were so early. We did not get to see the inside of the distillery like I thought we would, but we got some great information about the history of Bacardi and how they came to Puerto Rico.
Don't Miss: The Fortress, since we missed it.
