Review SummaryThe ship was in good shape considering the age. It was well maintained and very clean. The food was good not great just good. Dinning room service was good. The cruise director Rico was excellent. There was enough to do on a ship this size and I thought the evening shows were good especially the comedians.
I thought there should have been more information about the ports (other than the shopping information). Some of the passengers had excursion problems (delays, bus breaking down, etc.). Over all I think everyone had a good time.
Grand Cayman was nice. Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville Restaurant is right by the pier where we docked. We did the Butterfly Farm and Nautilus. It was ok but if you dont do a big excursion consider just walking over to the Nautilus (end of parking lot) and purchase a ticket. Grand Cayman is safe to walk around and we should have had lunch at Margaritaville like many did great photo ops too. Bathrooms on the second floor clean.
Costa Maya we did not book an excursion. You can get off the ship and shop or just take your bathing suits and towels and hang out. There is a pool area near the shops and restaurants as well as the beach area with plenty of chairs. The beach area is rocky and not meant for swimming but it is a nice break from the ship. It is a nice area to hang out. Several (including us) took the advice of the cruise director and purchased a bus ticket to a small fishing village about 10 minutes away. The bus tickets are $3.00 per person and the taxi back is $2.00 per person. It was interesting to see many went to get cheap beach massages and some snorkeling, etc.
We took a tour of Belize which was very interesting. Many booked water excursions since the area is so beautiful. Lots of poverty though and I would NOT consider just getting off the boat and shopping here. This is not the place to shop.
Cozemel was very touristy. We did some shopping and then had lunch at Ponchos Backyard (recommended because it has purified water). The service was excellent and the food good. They also had entertainment. Nice place to hang out and clean bathrooms. Good day to take advantage of a quiet ship. Went to the pool and spa.
Getting on and off the ship was a breeze. We arrived a day early in Tampa and the next morning we were on board The Legend in time for lunch. The parking garage across the street made it very easy and convenient to just take our bags to and from the car ourselves. If you arrive early there are shops and coffee shops to check out but we decided to board early. The waiting area very comfortable and they even served drinks while we waited. Getting off was just as easy. They called our color 10 minutes early because it was going so smoothly. Much easier than getting on and off a ship in Miami.
Pros: Clean Ship
Cons: Dinning room service
