Being our first ever cruise, we expected a lot of fan-fare upon embarkation. Unfortunately, at embarkation, when we walked into the ship, there was not a single ship representative at the entrance to greet us or to show up up to our cabins. We had to find our way ourselves... Our cabins were not ready, still in a state of untidyness... Our suitcases did not reach us until 8 hours later. O.K. We accepted all that because the ship was absolutely beautiful... Unfortunately, everything else was a dissapointment. The room service food came to us COLD. The food was sub-standard, even in the Dining Room & Windjammer Cafe. Staff in the Windjammer Cafe was very helpful and ready to jump to our assistance, even though they would not be getting any gratuities at the end of the cruise. That was appreciated and acknowledged by us... But the staff in the dining room, we could see, were unnaturally attentive, to the point of being artifical. All of us at the table agreed that they were only interested in the gratuity we would be leaving them. The Cruise Entertainment Staff (the ones who handled the daily cruise onboard "fun" activities) were quite rude with a lot of the passengers, one of the young girls even called an old lady "FAT" to her face. Surprising to hear this from an Employee to a Paying Customer...In our 16 days on the ship, we had just ONE midnight buffet, contrary to the advertisements and promotions by RCC where they claim that they have midnight buffets every night... Purser's Desk Staff were cold and non-helpful. Staff in the shops lounged around, not bothered whether you buy anything or not, often just fooling around rudely and loudly with each other, even in the presence of customers. The shows were very good, and the ship, as I said earlier, was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Maintenance was being carried out continuously, and we never saw any part of the ship looking shabby. Shore Excursions were very badly arranged by RCC and very very expensive and definitely not any Value for Money. The local agents for RCC and the tour itineraries were not well checked out by RCC, with the result that the local agents ended cutting the tours short and gave us less than what they had documented in the brochures. Pointing this out to them did not help at all. Our agent at home told us that RCC would arrange for transport from the airport to the ship for US$ 20 each in a bus. We opted to go on our own by cab and did the entire journey in a total of US$ 10!! Thereby saving about US$ 70 (for 4 of us). All in all, we all felt that the RCC has spent so much money on making the Legend a luxurious liner, they should have also paid more attention to the food, the staff & the staff's attifude towards the passengers.I hope you do put this review up on your website, i do know it sounds negative, but that IS how we experienced it... This might be a help to others who are planning for the Legend too... Do not do a disservice to those who WANT to know about all the points of the Legend, Good and Bad. Thanks a lot.
