Review summary

The most disappointing part of the cruise was that on day of embarkation we ran into seven problems and guest services and management was nonchalant about those issues. Even though the spa and our room had issues, most of the ship was clean and fairly new. The ports of call were nice. The food tasted okay but was lukewarm and really may be a health violation. Our other Holland America experiences were better than this one.

Purchased the Greenhouse Spa - Lockers did not work, Loungers were always occupied, standing water in the saunas and salt water pool areas. Morning 'just breathe' yoga were full and too tight.

Arrived to an unclean room, flooded bathroom, cracked bathroom sink and backed up toilet. Also the cabin door had to be slammed shut. We had to ask housekeeping to help with the flooded bathroom, toilet and door. Guest services never answers their phone. In fact the guest services rep asked if we could wait until the morning to take care of the flooded bathroom. Hotel Manager was unapproachable and arrogant.

Ship tip

Make sure everything that is promised to you by your travel agent is on the cruise ship's records before you travel. We did not get the wine that promised us. We are also mariners and did not receive the rewards or dinner invitations that we should have got. Guest services will not help you. In fact the Ms Koningsdam does not go out of it way to make things pleasant for its guests. One more thing ask if guests have died in the stateroom. Saw an hearse and ambulance at two ports ....
