Cruised on the Jubilee on Sept. 7 '02. This was our 6th cruise, 3rd on Carnival. Embarkation was bad due to weather, but this couldn't be helped. What could have been helped was the disorganization and lack of information given to the awaiting passengers. All of that aside....once we set sail (at 12:50am). We expected things to get get back on track. We were soooo wrong. There was nothing to do for the first 2 days. Unless you liked art auctions or Bingo, you were pretty much out of luck. There were 3 lounges with 3 kinds of music, but there was NO party anywhere...6 to 12 people sitting around and a bored bartender leaning against the wall in each of the places we checked. The "shows" were pretty much the same old stuff. The food was good, but we witnessed a young waiter get scolded for talking to us for a little too long. And forget room service...they never answer the phone. Matt, the cruise director, was cute as a button and very personable. Activities that were missed on the first night due to late sailing should have been rescheduled for the next afternoon while there was nothing going on. The captain did not keep the passengers informed about weather, seas or anything else for that matter, even after the ship listed so hard at one point that items fell from shelves and people were thrown from bed.(Thankfully, he did ask for a moment of silence on 9/11. That was the ONLY time I heard his voice).I have heard bad things about Carnival and its fleet, and have always stood by their side and sang their praises as we enjoyed our other two Carnival experiences. This trip, however, will make me think long and hard about sailing Carnival again.
