This was my first cruise with Carnival Cruise Lines; although, I've been on seven cruises. My expectations were three star at best and I was pleasantly surprised. Embarkation in Vancover was very simple and the staff there was courteous and helpful. Upon boarding the ship, I thought that it wasn't very clean. However, after being onboard, I realized that it was a clean ship but lacks the luster and shine of the newer ships that I have cruised. The outside cabin was quite and comfortable. The cabin steward was "the best" and was never seen; but, did an excellent job. The food was a huge surprise and was as good or better than other cruise lines I have used. The waiter staff was excellent and genuinely working hard to please us. The Jubilee staff is much more attentive and considerate of the passengers than other lines I have cruised. What the ship lacks in luster and shine, the staff makes up for in attentive service and desire to be helpful and please the clients. Entertainment was very good. It was a special treat to have John Davidson performing during the five days at sea. This was a wonderful experience and I am pleased to give the Jubilee staff 5 stars. However, the age and condition of the ship brings the experience to a 4 star. My major observations with the vessel was the dark Lido dining room - not inviting at all and the soot from the smokestack that got on us as we were on the outside decks. These are problems with the ship's age. The ship has limited spa and gym facilities but does have six tread mills which I used the daily. It is nice to have the aqua spa or at least in-door hot tubs which were not available. I would not hesitate to use this ship again since it was a great experience and value.North Carolina Cruiser
