Great ports by carr164

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Jewel of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I chose this particular cruise for the ports we visited (St. Maarten, St. KItts, Antiqua, St. Lucia & Barbados. The ship itself was 'alright' - 1) both 'adult' swimming pools were 5'8" deep - impossible to 'rouch bottom', which made it a little difficult for those who are not excellent swimmers 2) our stateroom was unusually small (would've been better had they removed the 2 person loveseat) .. I think our balcony was 'almost' (tongue in cheek) bigger than our room 3) our refrigerator NEVER got cold...when we told our room steward, he informed us it was 'not supposed to be cold', it was a 'cooler'

Jewel of the Seas is a real jewel! by arleneconverse

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Jewel of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Our experience onboard the Jewel of the Seas was sweet!  JOS is a smaller ship, more intimate, less crowded and allows for a very laid back experience versus the mega ships.  Depending on your appetite for things to do, if your looking to less activities and more relaxation, this ship is right up your alley.  There is still plenty of things to do but mere size reduces those activities up against the mega ships.  We sailed from San Juan, Puerto Rico to the Southern Caribbean.  The airport experience at San Juan was not a good experience on this trip.  They lost our luggage as we had planned to stay 2 nights pre cruise at the Hotel Plaza De Armas in Old San Juan.  We had to be without our luggage for 24 hours and pick it up ourselves at the airport.  But once onboard the Jewel of the Seas, all was forgotten.  The cruise experience was outstanding.  Again, we had 7 people and 4 cabins onboard this ship.  Three of the balconies opened up to one another as we were side by side.  The other cabin was not close to us.  The Jewel is a sweet cruise and I would return in a heartbeat.

Royal Caribbean Jewel of the Seas Holiday Cruise 2013 by RiverCruiseGuy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Jewel of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I a

I admit it, I am a service snob.  I believe that when I spend over $1500 plus airfare, tips, excursions, drinks, etc...per person for a cruise (There were 10 of us), I should receive great service in the dining room at dinner as well as at the bars on the ship.  The sports bar in particular is a joke with old TV's, a bartender who sits on a bar stool rather than waiting on guests and no food.  I didn't think it was possible but the service is better on Norwegian then on Royal Caribbean.  With that said, Royal Caribbean has gone downhill over the past 5 years.  This was my second RC cruise in 2013 and in both cases the service in the main dining room as been mediocre at best.  The food is good but there isn’t enough service staff to take care of the guests in a way that Americans are accustomed to.  If you drink wine, good luck in getting your wine before the food is served.

In addition, they have a jogging track that goes through a smoking area, really.  As you run the track, people are blowing smoke in your face.

Here some good things about Jewel of the Seas.

·         The entertainment on board exceeded my expectations at every show.

·         Both food and service were fantastic at Chops Grill and Portofino.

·         For a great bar experience head to the schooner bar where there are great bartenders and cocktail servers.

·         The rooms are clean and the room Stewards work hard to keep the rooms looking great all week long.

·         The itinerary was great and we went on some fantastic shore excursion.  Our favorites were;

The 4 hour Volcano Hike on St. Kitts – brink a banana or apple as it is very strenuous and you will be glad to have something when you reach the top.

The Kayak & Snorkel Eco Tour in Antigua is a first class operation with a guided eco kyak tour of the glades, a speed boat ride to an island and snorkeling a magnificent coral reef.

In both cases the bus ride also included an unadvertised history tour of the Island.

Overall we had fun and if we paid $600 a person I wouldn't have a complaint but at over $1500 it just isn't’t a good value for a family vacation.

A FABULOUS CRUISE by ValentineCruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Jewel of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our second time on Jewel of the Sea and we did not think it could get any better but it did. We celebrated Valentine's Day with 22 friends on a 5 day cruise. The size and design of the ship is especially great for cruising with friend and making new friends. There are intimate setting to have group conversations and private parties throughout the ship. The decor is off the charts. The Captain can be seen daily mingling with the ship's guest and the staff is as attentive. Big kudos to the chef - the food was outstanding in the dining room, the buffet and specialty restaurants. The entertainment, DJ, shows and activities were among best we have experienced. This was our 62nd cruise. Our cruise agent, Alicia Salgado Robles was a big JEWEL in helping to organize our group and we thank her for her outstanding services. We highly recommend this ship and cruise.

A Quick Getaway by Iloverc

Ship: Jewel of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Royal Carribean Cruise ship was the most delightful cruise line I have ever experienced. The staff was very attentive to every passenger aboard. The ship was clean including the state room. Artwork throughout the ship, beautiful. Entertainment was a delight! I will always book with Royal Caribbean for future crusing. My next cruise is January 2014, Brillance of the Sea's. Thank You!

Considering the industry shutdown, Royal Caribbean did a good job and followed protocols to the inth degree! by kfrosh649448217

Ship: Jewel of the Seas

This was certainly worth the trip though ports of call all have different mandates with the COVID crap and restrictions vary. RCL did a great job of cleanliness and customer service!

A very nice, relaxing trip by cathyadeters

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Jewel of the Seas

This was a very inexpensive last minute cruise for us. We enjoyed the trip and the ship felt clean and safe. The staff was INCREDIBLY kind and helpful. After this great experience, since we are retired, we may do last minute cruises more often. With the Covid concerns, we felt quite safe with the precautions the ship had in place.

Great first cruise experience! by lmhancock7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Jewel of the Seas

Was a great first cruising experience! For those concerned about COVID, they checked everyone's vaccination status when we boarded, as well as our recent COVID test results. Then, when you passed that they put a green bracelet on you that you wore the entire cruise. The bracelet had an added benefit of if you didn't do one of their shore excursions but booked one on your own, you could tell who was from your ship because they had the same colored bracelet on. We also wore masks inside (not my favorite thing ... but oh well), unless we attended a vaccinated only event. Not quite sure why they did it this way, since all adults were vaccinated, only the kids weren't?

Disappointing by mrbaker1979

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Jewel of the Seas / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

Overall, I was disappointed with cruise. The cancellation of Bahrain and Qatar was a real bummer. The fact that the price I paid later dropped by $1,100 and RC wouldn’t give me the difference or at least some back in the form of an OBC was maddening. The crew was awesome as were the shows. I just had a much better experience on Harmony if The Seas in every aspect. I think I’m spoiled with the Oasis class ships. No more smaller ships for me. Despite all the gripes and things that occurred, I’m still a gonna be a faithful RC cruiser.

Dubai round trip by Roybark

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Jewel of the Seas / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

As a cruise it's obviously still in the development stage and I'm in time they will develop the ports of call more. Some really exciting plans in place for the port of Dubai already in place. A week on Jewel is perfect, any longer would become very repetitive. We had a wonderful vacation and met some really lovely and interesting people but as I've stated, some on formal nights were embarrassing and down right rude! This was our interpretation and I'm sure some won't agree but I'll say it as I see it and all to their own 🙄
