Not the best cruise experience

Sail Date: November 29, 2015

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

I wouldn't go on another Royal Caribbean cruise.  Quality of food was poor and very inconsistent.  The dining room staff needs training on how to serve and pour wine.  Our cabin attendant was never available, couldn't be reached, didn't follow up and no one else would help when you needed something.  The Jewel of the Seas ship is old, tired, and ready for renovation.

Cabin / Stateroom
Had some issues with lighting that didn't get fixed.
Embarkation and Disembarkation
Ship Quality
Maintenance of interior of rooms not as good as it could be. Dining room was too bright, noisy and felt like you were eating in a cafeteria; no ambiance
Destinations and Excursions
Barbados and St. Croix were not worth visiting. Did our own excursions which I found on Trip Advisor which were very good; ship excursions were over priced and not appealing.
Onboard Activities
Entertainment
Low budget entertainment. The cruise entertainment director thought he could sing but he couldn't.
Service and Staff
Dining staff could use training as to how to pour wine etc. Always felt rushed in the dining room. Crew assigned to our room was not available every time I called with a request and no one else would help you.
Food and Dining
Poor quality. Buffet closed at 9PM and you couldn't get any snack or cookie; only tea or coffee. Room service food was pathetic. Ordered a cheese plate and got saltine crackers and 3 pitiful pieces of white cheese and shriveled grapes. Ordered a fruit plate for breakfast and it was very skimpy and fruit wasn't fresh. Dining room portions were very small and quality of food was poor.

Tip

Old tired ship and the crew could use some training.
